A nice place to stopover for a meal in the American themed Diner. There's a decent selection of food, but it's the Cream Horn that people come for. There is a limited quantity each day and they were already sold out prior to the stated closing time the last time I came by. This time I made sure I came earlier during lunch time. There a playground for the kids too
Great kiwi food, hot coffee and cream cornets to go. We’ll need to go back for the mince on toast and the lamb’s fry with bacon. Fifties decor and outside tables in the garden. The place to stop at Sanson.
Nice place to stop by on your way through Sanson, especially with kids as it has a playground. Food was fine, nothing special though. Kids loved the horns. However, the staff wasn’t very welcoming and also closed the cafe an hour earlier than stated on their website. Might be an unpleasant surprise for travelers.
Heard lots about this place and it is all 100% correct. This cafe is fantastic. The service is fast and friendly staff and the food is amazing. We stopped on the way to Wellington and had breakfast we all had lambs fry and bacon. Wow lambs fry was cooked perfect with just the right ratio of lambs fry to bacon. The nice gravy with onions was beautiful. The coffee at this place is very nice and hot unlike some cafes. On the way home we had poached eggs and bacon and eggs bene with bacon. Again excellent meals. We then couldn’t help but by 6 cinnamon oysters as these are yum. Viva cafe is an absolutely must stop if travelling through Sanson. This will be. Regular stop for me. I have it on good advice the cream horns, pies and donuts are to die for also. My arteries could only handle one lot of goodies today.
Cream Horns gets a new meaning! We opted to eat something light and added a cream horn with it. The taste slaps your chest like a sumo wrestler. We made this our halfway stop between Wellington and New Plymouth. I can highly recommend this little kitchen.
Great little diner. Awesome outside area for little people to play on. Little man had a great time. I had a whanganui?? Slice it was awesome as was my iced coffee. Burger was average. Would recommend stopping in here Kid-friendliness: Great play area Parking: Right outside about 30 parking spaces Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp available
We were on our way to Taupo and stopped at this cafe after seeing a big sign about the most famous cream horn in Sanson. We tried the lemon and chocolate horns and they were lovely! Crispy skin and the cream was not too heavy. A nice and friendly place to stopover for lunch or coffee. They sold more than 300000 cream horns since the cafe was opened! Worth a visit.
I want to visit again immediately!! Came across the restaurant during our driving trip when we were looking for a place to dine out. The name and signs captured our attention. Then we stopped and saw there were heaps of people dining in. I am glad we visited, as the food was delicious highly recommend the cream horns , the interior was loveable retro styled and heaps of photos that appeared personal to the owners of the shop. You can tell the amount of effort that went into getting the shop's interior to look the way that it is. Toliet was clean. There was a moderate sized children's playground. A must visit place for everyone! Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options available. Kid-friendliness: Heaps of food children would love and a big playground. Parking: Heaps of parking spots on site which were free. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible via ramp.
Best cream horn in New Zealand, perfect Chocolate Thickshake and very happy service… a Road trip must do or every time you pass must do lol Diner decor and photo’s amazing Food: 5/5
Lovely staff and service. Really nice interior stepup with a great feel. You really can't go wrong getting a cream horn 10/10 would recommend.
