great place to hang out, comfy chairs, WiFi, USB access points and plenty of user plugs to use and plug in! real chilled out place loved it, lots of diversity, people doing crafts and puzzles.. felt like a more larger modern version of my apartment thanks CHCH for being a great host .. not sure if its worth rebuilding tho but if they are intent on rebuilding using old foundation policies so put everything on STILTS civil construction guys know what I mean -Japan employs this technology so we need to also.. there's bound to be another earthquake waiting somewhere
What a wonderful experience People friendly helpful Great time to spend on a very wet day Wish I could borrow a book Love to come back
Great location, nice design. Plenty of space to read or study
Central city library has gone above and beyond since the CHCH quake. It has turned from being just a library to a popular day trip locale for families of all ages. Love the building architecturally amazing, love the planned activities baby sessions, love the facilities books of all genres and languages, gaming consoles, lego pools and slides for kids…. Not to mention The Foundation Cafe!
I took our 4 grandchildren up to the first floor where we played with Lego for 2 hours, they loved it, they had never seen so much Lego in one place before and their imagination certainly ran wild! They also enjoyed the enclosed slide and it's hideaway tower. The 11 year old had 20 minutes on one of the play stations. Luckily, I had my library card with me. It was a great visit and we will certainly be back.
The stairways are a bit like those at Hogwarts. There is a quiet room on the third floor. That's a good place for a laptop. The power outlets have built in surge protectors. All in all what you'd expect from a library.
There's a plethora of activities for all ages. Loved taking my son to the Lego area to play. He had a blast exploring. Very well set up!
An inspiring building, Turanga draws the visitor in and upward. A lively cafe at ground level offers a delicious range of food. Their cheese scones are allegedly the best in Christchurch. Moving through the building via a series of grand staircases, one can engage with enthusiatic and knowledgeable librarians at every level. There is something here for everyone and I could have spent all day in this library, browsing the books, enjoying its design and art work, or participating in many other activities on offer.
Great public library the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable
Library staff are very helpful and pleasent to deal with. Cafe is a bit pricey, good coffee though. May not have missed it the first time walking past if there was better signage as I was looking for a "library" as I don't come into the central city much, good thing for Google maps in the end haha
