Super handy hostel to the city; close to many food spots. We stayed for 2 nights spontaneously and were able to secure the same room for both nights on separate bookings which was very good service. I stayed here 3 years ago and since then the whole hostel has been significantly improved and updated. It is pretty modern and the beds are cute. Easy contactless checkin after hours. Good access to bus/taxi as the stand is outside. The cafe has good coffee and beer selection, it has also been updated and is quite upscale. Nice view from room of the Main Street. Will be back.
The owner, who I assume was Asian, was extremely rude. He kept putting pressure on me regarding the quality/price ratio. Definitely avoid this place. The remote control didn’t work, the TV was also terrible—absolute trash.
Good food, cozy ambiance, and super friendly staff. Lots of seating and the coffee is just perfect.nnAfter three years living in Invercargill, it’s my first time trying this café, and I’m glad I did. The pie was huge with homemade pastry, and the frittata with salad was delicious.nnReasonably priced, and I’ll definitely be back.
Great location but the guy behind bar looked put out having to serve our whole group, entertainment was watching to see if he smiled at anyone.
Go to the Pub if nobody at the reception despite opening time.nStayed one night in private single room which provided towel before heading to Steward Island.nReturned from Steward Island , I stayed in 8beds dormitory. This time no towel given and the bed doesn’t have shade to close for privacy.nAnd this time facing the pub owned by the same hostel and road thus pretty noisy with the loud music and from the vehicles. The heater is not strong since it’s a bigger 8 bedder dormitory.nLocation is excellent given it’s right in front of the Intercity coach pick up and drop off area and also very near to Invercargill Mall and Park n Save, the cheap grocery mall.nSuggested to stay in the private single room which has better facing than the dormitory as the latter face the noisy road and loud music from the Pub downstairs.nOh they charge $10 per day for secured lock room of your luggage but I decided to choose the unsecured manner ie just left it beside the staircase.nHowever all good as just bring your own toiletries and towel and make sure you charge your phone in the lounge or kitchen as there is only 2 power points in the 8 bedder dorm and one used for the heater !!!
