Theobroma Chocolate Lounge

We have been here before Covid and breakfast was awesome, we tried it again and it was awful The place was so dirty sat at a dirty table the cupboards and walls are covered in filth! The salt and pepper shakers are all dented in and have bits of who knows on them, the eggs weren’t cooked I barely ate anything and the bathroom door and passage were two steps away from where we were eating it made me feel sick the smell! The wait for the food was over 45mins hard to believe when it actually wasn’t even cooked properly and the waitress was chatting to friends who came by most of the time we were there The hot chocolate was great though maybe a take away hot chocolate next time if I’m feeling brave

This coffee place is bit pricy at center place. Never paid that sort of amount for only two coffees definitely they are attracting a lot of foot traffic but does not mean charging extra is fair. Just recommending to oversight their pricing and make it competitive with other cafes. Otherwise there are a lot of other cafes around this place.

Had eggs benedict with bacon. The man that served us was staring out the window and barely spoke to us. The place is dirty, overpriced and there was a long wait. Food was average and $21.90 for such a small portion..? Not worth it. Would not recommend

The dark haired lady that served me at the counter looked sour and came across as inconvenienced by me as I selected my chocolates. The blonde lady that delivered my coffee and mouse much friendlier. The chocolate mousse from the cabinet was exactly what I wanted, rich and decadent but let down by a skin on the top from sitting in the cabinet. There was a small amount of sickly sweet chocolate sauce in the bottom of the glass that doesn't bring anything to the dish, the mousse itself is delicious by itself. Coconut flat white was good but very hot

Went for coffee around lunch time today - the experience was honestly really subpar and the place was a bit dirty. It was really disappointing because we really love Theobroma in Auckland botany mall, and are regulars there. The staff seemed really dead inside and the service left a lot to be desired. Not even a hello or smile when we ordered, and the drinks were just put in front of us. The mugs and burners didn't look look they had been washed properly, and had food marks on the outside. We got a glass of water - the glass was so dirty and murky looking. It had food stains on it as well, and looked like it had collected over several years. You can bet I didn't even touch the water. The furniture and decor also seems like it needs to be cleaned and updated.

Quality customer service, delicious food at unbelievable price. I went to order waffle ice cream, kitchen was almost closed but the cashier girl went inside to check if they can make fresh waffles for me, then they charged me 15$ for waffle to 2 scoops of ice cream which I believe is an unbeatable price.

I totally ignore a review or two about the waffles and because I been to a similar place like this in Auckland - and I really had high hopes for this place. The Service was - meh !. Even thou I was being really nice. The old man couldn't be bothered to show any appreciation. My only guess, he could be having a bad day. I ordered the x2 waffles, with vanilla ice cream and an extra shot of milk chocolate & x1 white chocolate milkshake which all came too $38.70. Anyways, I ended up with x2 waffles with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate - wft ??. So i went back to counter and advise the old man that I said that I wanted icecream on the waffles not whipped cream. He looked even more lost than before. Nevertheless, I didnt want to be that person to ruin his day. So i asked him if i could get x2 bowls of vanilla ice cream. AGAIN, he got my order wrong. At this point I couldn't bothered to argue to with him. I paid for x1 bowl of French Vanilla ice cream $3 and headed back to my table. Upon cutting into our waffles, we found it was under cooked and tasted like dough boys boiled flour. I was really really really disappointed. My son was questioning their service and food - saying how appalling everything was. So, we ended up eating our icecream and some parts of the waffles where most of the milk chocolate was sitting. My milkshake eventually came - after I reminded the staff, it was nice the milkshake. We couldn't finish eating our waffles because it was YUCK. The 1 Star rating is for the waffles and the service we received.

Tasty hot chocolate and good food.

It says opening time at 8.30am and my partner waited at the door for a few minutes while 2 woman, who arrived after opening hours, talked and stood around the front area. We prefer Chartwell Theobroma and came here as a last resort since it's close. Never again.

Had a 40 min wait for a simple meal, the issue wasn’t the wait, it was the fact that there was no more indication that there was a long wait on food and when we queried it were made to feel that we shouldn’t be asking. Customer service goes a long way in my opinion and a simple we are very sorry would you like a chocolate while you wait would have been a better response.
