"Intimate listening spaces for authentic performance art."
The Rogue Stage is a live music appreciation movement, creating listening spaces in many places in Rotorua. Theaters, cafes, gardens, lounges, boats, forests, sheds and barns - any place where people can gather safely.
At The Rogue Stage we encourage the audience to listen and enjoy the art of composing and writing a song. We favour original work, but also love artists' renditions of their personal favourites and influences.
Genres you ll find presented at The Rogue Stage are:
Alt country, bluegrass, indie, noir folk, anti folk, neo folk, just folk, jump folk, trash folk, vintage country, ska, jazz, jungle blues, rag time blues, electro pop, traditional homegrown indigenous music, electro sound scapes, swing, funk, experimental performance art and sometimes a bit of vintage blues.
Primarily The Rogue Stage deals with NZ artists, but occasionally the opportunity arises to present international artists.
Karin Vincent is the sole operator and owner of The Rogue Stage, supported by Barry Vincent, her husband, who is the sign writer responsible for all the hand painted signs. See Artisans Alive: Barry Vincent Traditional Sign Writer/Painter.
Volunteers and their contribution of time, help with spreading the word and on hand assistance at shows make up a big part of the success of The Rogue Stage and each concert is open to the public.
It is mainly based in Rotorua and occasionally The Rogue Stage Presents do tours to other towns by invitation.
Other interests are: Tea & Happiness NZ - raw & fermented food made with love, Toohhoot - making of props and vintage fabric fashion accessories, Tihi Tea Stop - long or short stay and most recent the bringing together of a group of people to learn West African drumming and dance with Koffie Fugah: West African Drumming and Dance Group Rotorua.
We are also a hire service and can host your event, build a stage for you and manage the sound for your event.
Kindest regards,
Karin and Barry Vincent
