Stayed here as part of a very large group. It’s the only place I’ve stayed with a group of that size that has had such consistently great service and fantastic plentiful food. Perfect location, rooms are really spacious double bed upstairs, living area and bathroom downstairs, can’t wait to come back again.
We stayed for one evening arriving very late and leaving quite early the next day. The room is bare bones but honestly the beds were comfortable. Walls are thin but once everyone was asleep we didn’t hear a thing. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, allowed us to use the restrooms and refill waters after our tongaririo hike even after we had checked out!
An excellent base to do the Tongariro alpine Crossing. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly. There’s an excellent restaurant and bar on premises. So there is no need to go anywhere else after an exhausting day. The rooms are a little outdated, and the beds could be a little more comfortable. But to be honest, it didn’t really matter since we were exhausted after our hikes anyway.
We've stayed here twice. It's a great, economical spot. Compact but fully functional. Byo plates/ bowls and cutlery. There's no cooking facilities either but they're is a good sized fridge/ freezer. Very compact bathroom. Loved the spa especially after hiking. Excellent location. We'd stay again
The promoted 3 Star Hotel rating is applicable to the restaurant and the ambiance but from our perspective not to the rooms.nnThe Room Poorly insulated, comfy bednnThe room itself is, to put it nicely, not the newest one. The bathrooms are rather small, it is a challenge to open the door to the shower while not being seated on the toilet and the toilet door does not allow for much privacy. The rooms have poor insulation over all and you can hear what the guests to the left, right and above as well as in front of your room door are doing.nThe bed was comfy and the rooms were clean.nnThe RestaurantnThe Restaurant was great. Tasty food, friendly and quick service. The menu is not Hugh but more than enough. We can only comment on the dinner though.nThe ambiance is cosy and gives a Chalet vibe so it sits great in the area.
