Story

Join us on Sunday 3rd September for the inaugural Smiths Sports Shoes Moa Experience, an adventure not to be missed. The Moa Experience showcases Papamoa Hills and Summerhill Farm and is Papamoa’s only trail running event.

The area is both rich in history and cultural significance and offers participants incredible panoramic views of the Bay of Plenty. The 15km course takes you through a variety of running terrain including pine forests, creek crossings, open farmland and stunning New Zealand bush. This is a challenging course with some technical elements, designed to give you the full Moa Experience.

On leaving the carpark at the foot of Papamoa Hills participants will take the popular walking track to the first intersection. Over the stile you will then head through open farmland to the trig station (at 224m). From here you descend into Summerhill Farm and across to the mountain bike park. This is a technical single track section which showcases New Zealand’s stunning bush. After exiting the park, you
will climb back up to Papamoa Hills and take a different track to the first stile on the course. You will then head back to Poplar Lane carpark where you started for a slice of Lily’s World Famous Flapjack and your unique Moa Experience finisher’s medal.
