My family of 6 people dine in here last week. Lovely atmosphere and vibe. We ordered variety of dishes and all of them was very delicious. i thoroughly enjoyed my Garlic chilli prawns with Garlic naan. There Rice is also top quality. This restaurant suggested to us by our local friends, who use them every week for takeaway night. Highly recommend
one of the best Naan bread I had. Butter chicken here is so good that my children come here every week. quality of food is high standard at reasonable price. Definitely recommend this Indian restaurant.
Hands down to the best india food i had in New Zealand. This was the most flavourful and enjoyable meal i had while visiting Dunedin. Plenty of vegan options to choose from and food was full of flavour. portion size was generous and staff was attentive and professional. Highly recommend and we definitely will be back. Vegetarian options: Ask for coconut cream instead of normal cream for vegan option. you wont be disappointed.
If you want a fire in your mouth this is your place. Mild anything is hot everything. Disappointing is an understatement. The kitchen was woke and wouldn’t listen to anyone who wanted to make a suggestion. Between the spoons of chilli paste by the waiter and doughy naan this place is not a place to enjoy. The poor waiter was under the pump and looked to be embarrassed with what was coming out. Legend he was. Do not recommend
This restaurant is consistently outstanding. Whenever i am in Dunedin for work trip, i makesure i stay in north dunedin, so i can dine in here. Depending on the time of the year, sometime i dont even get a table as it is packed with students. Food is tasty and service is excellent. I takeaway the food last night and i can confirm it is authentic i found in New Zealand, take me back to home. Highly recommend Vegetarian options: must try Paneer dilruba
Another tasty meal at the maharajas. After trying few other Indian restaurant in Dunedin, i have to say that they do best Indian food i ever had in New Zealand. Can highly recommend them.
Was here last Monday, whilst the food was great, we got offered the lunch special but asked for roti instead of naan due to needing it to be vegan. The young guy said he’d take the price of the naans of the roti. When we went To pay we told the young girl the deal, she went and asked the young guy, who ended up just saying ‘ charge them the full price’, this despite him offering the lunch special. This cost us an extra $9-$10 which in the end took away from the experience. Good food, customer service was a lil dodgy.
We went to The Maharaja on a Sunday night which is when they have a special price of $14 for any standard curry. Our family of 5 had a curry each and the food was absolutely fabulous. The down side was as it was busy the food took a while but definitely worth the wait. The decor is a little ragged around the edges and certainly not flash but the great food eclipses all of that
This is charming and delicious indian food restaurant. Lamb Methi with garlic cheese naan is absolutely delicious. Price is reasonable for the quality and portion they serve. I and my partner are extremely satisfied with our takeaway and will be back. Oh, the mango lassi they serve is thick and tasty with strong mango taste.
This is my family favourite indian restaurant. We have tried them several time for takeaways, food is always top quality and service is friendly.
