We all had fabulous main meals and the Pinot Noir we ordered was delicious...it was an older vintage!!! For dessert we all ordered Espresso Martinis as the mai meal size was huge! They were absolutely delicious as well!nnThe interior is great but its a very large space and there were few people on the Sunday night we were there so it felt a little cavernous but the interior is still lovely and I loved all the overhead lights! The food is more upmarket pub style and they are large servings so don't over order.
Have been here 3 times now and each time was so dissapointing. Wanted to give it a fair shot but honestly any pub would be better. Nothing finery about it except the building itself. Food looked great but that was as far as that went. The waitresses still have not been taught their basics, once you order no one comes back to you to ask for more drinks or see how your meal is/was. Literally the things I learnt on my first day being a waitress years ago when I was the same age. The food was bland and everything seems to be drenched in sauce, my pork belly was so sauce ridden it made me feel ill. Partner had squid that had no seasoning and a steak so chewy and fatty he could not finish despite being starving. Prawns were basically just batter and the chicken palm was something I could have made at home. Would never go back or reccomend to anyone.
Firstly I must say the service was fantastic. The chaps on duty looked after us well especially offering us a tweak to one starter to suit just the two of us.nnWe both ordered the Roast Lamb and Seasonal Roasted vegetables. The veges included carrot. Parsnip, Kumera, Potatoes, Yam, Cauliflower and Beetroot. The roasted beetroot was just yummy. A small ramekin of peas and a second of mint sauce rounded off the large serving.nnUnfortunately I felt that the roast lamb was not at its finest. It tasted like it had been precooked, cooked then sliced, refrigerated and then reheated as needed. It ended up too overcooked for my liking and a little hard. Price $28nnHowever all was forgiven when in front of me was placed my dessert. A chocolate and blackberry self saucing pudding with chantilly cream, vanilla ice cream and a small meringue. OMG just sublime. It was all I could do not to order seconds!!! $17nnAlcohol was reasonably priced as well.nnThe atmosphere was nice, though it felt a bit cavernous due to the high ceilings and lack of dining patrons. In the restaurants corner though as it was only early in the evening.nngreat to have the big tv showing Olympics highlights.nnDefinitely one to come back to if we come to Alexandra again.
Beautifully furnished with a great atmosphere and helpful staff. They have gluten-free options clearly listed on the menus, which is really helpful. When asked for further information about processes, the lady seating us told us that they have separate fryers for the gluten free food which helped my husband with Coeliac disease feel more safe. We weren’t that hungry so we just shared a cider and a GF chicken burger with fries. The chicken was nice and crispy while also still juicy.
Been the twice now.nnDinner & DrinksnThe food was okay, I had Crispy Pork Belly & Fish of the day. It came with some mashed potatoes. I feel like it was a little blend and it would have been better a side veggie as well.nThe Fish had a nice flavor but the portion was abit too small. It would have also gone quite well with some veggies as well.nnThe Desert however was amazing. Perfect flavor and presentation.nnLunch was okay, given that I went on the day it was opened they were still getting the hang of things.
