The Finery

We had a wonderful meal at The Finery in Alexandra and were thoroughly impressed from start to finish.nnThe service was warm, efficient, and attentive without being intrusive. The ambience was inviting — stylish yet relaxed — making it a great setting for a night out.nnPictured are the Shoestring Fries, Beef Short Rib, and Pork. The fries were crisp, golden, and seasoned just right — simple but done exceptionally well.nnThe Beef Short Rib was the standout: tender, succulent, and full of flavour, it practically melted in my mouth. We both requested a swap from mashed potato to potato gratin with our mains, and the staff happily accommodated us. The gratin was creamy and rich — a perfect match.nnThe pork was also beautifully cooked, with a crisp, flavourful crackling that added great texture. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection and well-seasoned, adding a fresh, vibrant balance to the richness of the meat dishes.nnAll in all, we had a fantastic meal and would definitely return. Highly recommended if you're in Alexandra!

Lovely venue where we enjoyed a family celebration for 25+ people. Service was flawless. Food was delicious set menu and arrived as requested. It was also no issue to accomodate a slight slip to our schedule. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Compliments to the kitchen and FOH staff.

Been the twice now.nnDinner & DrinksnThe food was okay, I had Crispy Pork Belly & Fish of the day. It came with some mashed potatoes. I feel like it was a little blend and it would have been better a side veggie as well.nThe Fish had a nice flavor but the portion was abit too small. It would have also gone quite well with some veggies as well.nnThe Desert however was amazing. Perfect flavor and presentation.nnLunch was okay, given that I went on the day it was opened they were still getting the hang of things.

Went for the dinner for the first time at the finery and it was fantastic. The slow cooked beef was brilliant. All other food in our group of 7 was well approved by everyone. Service was prompt and polite. The atmosphere was warm. Will be back again for sure

We decided to have our wedding dinner with The Finery. Well we thought it was going to be just the dinner. Janet and Alyse then offered for us to hold our wedding ceremony at McArthur Ridge vineyard and the reception at The Finery. It was an absolutely beautiful day and all the planning and communication considering we travelled from Southland for our big day was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, including transporting everyone around the venues and getting them home safely. The meals were beautiful, from the canapes at the ceremony, to the delicious mains I had the pork and went back the next night for more, and the decadent cheese cake to even having platters at the end of the night. Our guests all mentioned how beautiful the food was, so we decided to head back the evening after our wedding and have another meal. Another amazing point of service was that someone had to disappear from our wedding while the food was coming out so the wonderful chef/kitchen staff refused to have a meal reheated and made us a whole new meal for the guest which was absolutely incredible. Charlie was our bartender and she was such a delight and a fantastic addition to the day. I also can’t have alcohol and Alyse accommodated bringing in a non alcoholic wine of my choice and I was spoiled by the amount of non alcoholic drinks! We had our reception in the beautifully styled Whiskey room and it was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding. We were very looked after and felt like more than just a customer, even receiving a very thoughtful gift from them after our wedding. Our whole wedding came well under budget thanks to the amazing Finery team. Alyse even thought of us for a fun opportunity to be involved in a styled shoot for The Finery which again was fantastic with delicious food and a bonus night of accommodation. A huge thank you to Alyse, Janet, Charlie and the rest of the team at The Finery for making our day absolutely perfect. If I could get married there again I would!
