The Finery

Only popped in for a few drinks, and a snack. The Guiness is absolutely top notch, beautifully creamy, they clearly put a lot of effort into it. The menu looked very inviting, wouldn't mind going for dinner in the future. Beautiful building and fancy decor inside, will definitely be returning for another creamy pint of Guinness very soon!

We had a wonderful meal at The Finery in Alexandra and were thoroughly impressed from start to finish.nnThe service was warm, efficient, and attentive without being intrusive. The ambience was inviting — stylish yet relaxed — making it a great setting for a night out.nnPictured are the Shoestring Fries, Beef Short Rib, and Pork. The fries were crisp, golden, and seasoned just right — simple but done exceptionally well.nnThe Beef Short Rib was the standout: tender, succulent, and full of flavour, it practically melted in my mouth. We both requested a swap from mashed potato to potato gratin with our mains, and the staff happily accommodated us. The gratin was creamy and rich — a perfect match.nnThe pork was also beautifully cooked, with a crisp, flavourful crackling that added great texture. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection and well-seasoned, adding a fresh, vibrant balance to the richness of the meat dishes.nnAll in all, we had a fantastic meal and would definitely return. Highly recommended if you're in Alexandra!

Interesting experience.nnInitial impressions of the Finery;nThe decor is lovely, the music however depressing, and our waitress seemed to be having a bad day.nnThe service was flat, the young man tried and was doing his best. The food was adequate, we cleaned the plates however the lamb was fatty, the fish batter was a tad underdone, and the pork wasn’t crispy on top which we thought was odd.nnThere was confusion with presenting the fish of the day which they ended up being sold out of. On a positive note the chef did accommodate my request for mash potato over fries which was greatly appreciated.nnWould go back, we know it can be better.

This is easily the most upmarket place to dine in Alexandra. We were very impressed with the ambience and décor — the high ceilings and well-spaced tables create a relaxed, premium dining experience. The menu is excellent, offering everything from refined, restaurant-quality dishes to elevated pub favourites, so there’s truly something to suit every taste and budget.nnI ordered the Slow-braised Beef Rib with gratin potato, seasonal vegetables, and chimichurri-scented jus. It didn’t disappoint — the beef was melt-in-the-mouth tender, the sauces were rich and delicious, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. My partner had the Crispy-Skinned Salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

We had a wonderful meal on Friday night. The customer service was amazing and the food outstanding. We were there with our 92 year old mum who eats very small portions. She was allowed to chose from the kids menu which was fantastic, and she was very happy with her meal, thank you. But I do have a suggestion...for older folk please put their food on a small normal plate rather than a plastic kids plate.nCustomer service was second to none...we will be back.
