Very nice pub and hotel. room was clean and tidy and a decent price. Great pub food and atmosphere. Staff where really friendly and welcoming. The area is beautiful.nnThe only issue was the internet connection, I was advised by staff that there were too many patrons in the bar with the wifi passwords and therefore I probably won't be able to connect on busy pub nights. Friday, SaturdaynnWhich I couldn't for 2 nights and i was unable to do my work. I had to buy an extra data Sim as a result. It was really annoying knowing I'm a paying guest but all the locals have access and priority.nnMy next trip, being a work / holiday again and to the same location. I Will have to try somewhere else.. just because I need wifi for work. It's important.nnOnce I had that sorted and after the busy nights it worked. My stay was fantastic.
Today was the monthly gathering of Lincoln Senior Citizens which was held at The Famous Grouse in Lincoln. We met at midday for lunch to be served at 12.30. This was fine, but it was from here it went down hill. The Chicken Ceasar Salad - some had no chicken and some had no bacon. The Roast of the Day - the vegetables were cold and the meat and gravy luke warm. Fish and chips - the batter barely cooked through. Then we come to Dessert - Chocolate Brownie favorable. Ice Cream Sundae - Caramel had lots of Caramel, Chocolate had no choc topping just junks of brownie. Then the Berry Sundae - well this was an absolute disaster. Nothing came out then we were advised chef was whipping the Cream. 12 minutes later, what you see in the photo was produced...no berries or topping, a scoop of ice cream then filled up with whipped cream. This was served in a beer mug....had they run out of proper serving dishes? When going to pay, I advised I wasn't paying for my Dessert, to be told they had run out of berries and there would be no charge. A number of members had ordered the Berry Sundae.nHow can you run out when the orders for the meal had been placed more than a week ago nThe service also left a lot to be desired.nUnfortunately, Members of this group will not be going back
So disappointed.First choice on menu not available- understandable. Then food delivered not what was ordered. Not advised choice was not available just brought different option.Questioned. Told it would be comped. Elderly parents did not want to make a fuss so tried to eat it.One dish went back uneaten just tasted.Went to pay not comped. Spoke to Manager who couldn't care less-I am local; parents visitors and over Xmas have eaten there three times all progressively worse. I am so ashamed to be promoting a local businessnto be so let down.
I just wanted a coffee...nThey repeated it back to me to make sure they had the order correct.nWhen I got it and did a taste test, I was VERY impressed with it.nThere was a fantastic flavour with no unexpected sour notes.nCongrats on having some great staff!!!
Good food and beer. Service was brilliant. Better than Tia Tapu for prices will be back
