The Dark Room is Palmerston North’s go-to venue for theatre, music and events - LIVE in Manawatu. We have an open programme of local, national and international work. We provide a platform for new and emerging artists to experiment, develop and showcase their work in a variety of genres.

We also have an excellent on-site bar.The Dark Room is home to improvised comedy troupe SpontaneoUS who perform the final Friday of every month. Delightful little theatre with amazing staff. I ran a one off night there as a touring show for my Comedy Production company Capital Comedy. The team endeavoured to help with all queries and I had a great time. I'll be back!
Very basic tbeatre space. Chairs all on same level not tiered so feel inclusive in the show.toilets are upstairs,may be difficult for moving impaired. Couple of parks by door.plenty across the road. Crew were very welcoming show itself was wonderful.
They have some pretty quality shows. I especially loved Eating The Wolf in 2015. Great actors, great show. One thing I would be concerned about is the heater which seems to have been very dangerously close to falling in 2015 but is still not fixed in 2017.
Great, intimate location, it's small so you're never far from the stage area. Drinks were very over priced, kind of ruined it a bit, and no coffee, practically nothing non alcoholic also.

Funky venue with a very basic bar and enough seats for small events. It’s nothing pretty but does the job for small acts.
Watched "spontaneous" and pnbhs theatre sports. This was a first time for my wife and I. Had a great night, with plenty of laughs. Would highly recommend
Excellent staff, great venue, enjoyed performing there.
Went to a great comedy show here put on by the comedy hub palmy. Really funny. Venue is good but only 1 toilet.
