Blue Cottage has been incredible community to be part of. What a wonderful childcare environment with such caring staff from the front desk to those working daily with the children. My son had some allergies and the team were incredibly accommodating for us in the trial and error it took to get through that stage. I so appreciated it. There is nothing better for a parent than leaving with full peace of mind your child is ok. Would highly recommend!
We were blessed to spend 3.5 wonderful years at The Blue Cottage. Right from day one they treated us like family and welcomed us with open arms. They eased all my concerns and my son absolutely flourished and thrived in their care. The teachers were literal ANGELS and loved and cared for our baby just like we would. Millie, Lauren, Piki, Chloe and Kellie in particular made our experience with the Blue Cottage so special. The owners are so down to earth and go above and beyond to create a supportive community for all the BC whanau. The Mother’s Day night they would put on for us Mums each year was a big highlight! I cried absolute buckets when our boy was leaving The Blue Cottage to start school, they gave him the most heartfelt send off and I cannot thank them enough for all of our beautiful memories. I can’t recommend this place enough!
The teacher's lack of empathy was astounding, particularly given my condition at the time. Despite my heavily pregnant state and the stress of moving houses just days before Christmas, the teacher, Kellie Campbell, chose to yell at me when I arrived a mere 8 minutes past the designated pickup time. This lack of understanding and compassion for a parent in such circumstances is deeply disappointing. Moreover, Kellie's unprofessional behavior is inexcusable. Instead of addressing the situation calmly and professionally, she resorted to yelling, which is completely unacceptable, especially in an environment meant to care for young children. Furthermore, the lack of accountability from management only added to the frustration. Despite bringing the matter to the attention of Joanna Cantlon, the response was dismissive, with management failing to take responsibility and simply brushing it off as a matter of conflicting accounts. This lack of accountability reflects poorly on the integrity of the daycare center from the top down. This incident has shattered my trust in the Blue Cottage daycare center and its staff. It's incredibly difficult to recommend a place that shows such a blatant disregard for the well-being and dignity of its clients. The emotional toll of experiencing such mistreatment during an already stressful time cannot be overstated. In conclusion, I urge anyone considering this daycare to think twice. Despite any outward glamour, the lack of empathy, professionalism, and accountability make it an unsuitable choice for childcare. My hope was for Kellie to acknowledge her behavior and apologize, but her refusal to do so only solidifies my decision to never return. It's devastating to experience such disrespect from a place entrusted with the care of our children. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for childcare services. If I could rate this daycare a 0 star, I would. If you'd like to know more, I would be happy to share with you my experience and would happily forward along the emails corresponding to this incident so you can read for yourself.
While individual staff and teachers who worked at the Blue Cottage distinguished themselves, we had an unfortunate situation which made it too difficult for us to continue with our child at the Blue Cottage. One day we were just past closing time, due to moving that day as we were blocked in by friends and family helping us move, but rather than showing understanding for the lateness, my wife was strongly berated by a staff member in front of our son. We approached management to complain, and despite back and forth emails and an in person meeting, we were met with no apology from the staff member but instead were told we were in the wrong. Granted, we were a few minutes late and we were sorry for that, and apologised but it made it very uncomfortable to continue leaving our child there. We did continue for the sake of our child who was already going through enough changes with moving house and getting a sibling. After several emails back and forth, it appeared we had exhausted our resolve and preposterous allegations were made back at us. Finally, when we had long been settled in our new house with another new family member and my wife was beginning to pick up and drop our son off again, she immediately felt too uncomfortable seeing the staff members in question remembering how she had been talked to and treated by them and never given a resolve, so it was clear, despite some time going by, that we needed to leave. It was a shame because our son was so settled and the original issue could have been dealt with so much better, especially when you are paying a premium in daycare on top of the 20 subsidised hours.
The team at the Blue Cottage are incredible. The carers are responsive to every comment or concern I've had as a parent and are always willing to help. My two year old loves going and they tap into the unique parts of who she is. It's also super stress free getting her ready for the day, as the Blue Cottage take care of everything! Hands down would recommend to anyone!
My son has been attending for almost two years and has flourished and bloomed so much in this time. He's formed amazing friendships with the kids and teachers and comes home everyday full of happiness and stories about his daily adventures. The staff are all so lovely & nurturing and caring towards not only the kids but their whanaus as well. Not to mention the facility itself, from the amazing open spaces to beautifully landscaped outdoors, the home cooked wholesome meals, and the laundered clothes. We love our Blue Cottage family and highly recommend!
My two boys had 5 months at Blue Cottage and loved every minute. The teachers are so passionate about the kids and it shows in everything they do. I would loved to have kept the boys there but we moved away to the country. An amazing daycare and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks so much Jo and the team
My Son has been with the Blue Cottage team in their Pipi room since he was 7months old. It was so hard to leave him but all of the team made both him and myself feel so comfortable with the transition. We always get regular updates with pictures that make our day when they get posted. He is about to turn two and I can not thank all the Pipi room team enough for looking after our little man with such genuine passion!
