Our aim is for the rangatahi to experience resilience in a new and unique environment for them - surfing
It is noted that Surfing programs are becoming a popular method of using sport as a vehicle for change, hope and community development. It is becoming evident that surfing can offer an alternative way to support the healing and rehabilitation process which builds empowerment and mental health resilience. Participation in surfing, whether as a one-off or an ongoing personal commitment, is a unique opportunity for young people to broaden their experiences within their own communities and the wider community, where confidence and inclusiveness can better equip youth to grow and develop as healthy, contributing and focused citizens. Apart from the active lifestyle and health benefits surfing promotes, it is the overwhelming sense of fun which is the most obvious and valuable investment.
The aim is for the rangatahi to experience resilience in an environment that is new and unique, for them.
