The cultural show and traditional art exhibit were top-notch highlights of our trip! It was awesome to immerse ourselves in the local culture. Plus, witnessing the natural mud and hot water geyser was mind-blowing—a sight you definitely don't want to miss!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Highly recommend paying this place a visit. Geo Thermal spectacle that will have you in awe of the power. I would recommend visiting during the day as there is more to see, and the air temperature means the geyser is more visible than the night when the cooler air leaves more of a steam event. Although the night visit is a cool experience during the day will give you better bang for your buck
The walking tour has two parts. One where they actually take you to the geothermal areas and the heated mud pools. The other one where they show you the three different schools based on Maori culture. The guides were very patient and answered all the questions. While returning back they had an option to take the bus so you didn't have to walk all the way back.
Mixed feelings, glad I went. Initially I thought you could easily walk to see the geyser and go, like only spend 30 minutes there. To see the geyser it is organised in controlled groups that leave at set times. Recommend booking in advance and knowing the times. It’s a guided tour that takes you past a Kiwi enclosure in a dark building behind glass. If you are lucky you may see one. It was a non event for us. You then walk past some mud pools then over to the Geyser. You don’t get long there so explore and snap your photos quickly. From there it’s on a bus tram thingy back to the main centre where you can learn more about Kiwi culture. It was well over an hour overall, if you are really keen on the culture and history aspect, this place is well worth the entry fee. If you are just after a photo of the geyser, it’s an expensive photo to take. The day we went, it was raining so the photos are more moody, and can become interesting with a little contrast added in an edit. We also had lunch at the buffet restaurant, we booked that in advance in which I recommend doing, especially at holiday time. It was a nice experience. Overall, a good experience, one you need to allocate time for.
I do recommend the trip. The tour guide was fantastic and the sites and info and school-tour is really cool. You learn a lot about the culture and it’s very interesting. The tour was overcrowded like many can be, and it was hard to see/hear/learn everything that you may want to with such a big group. If you come and have extra time to walk around on your own after the guided tour, it may add to the experience and bump it to 5 stars, but we didn’t know it was an option ahead of time and therefore didn’t have the time to do so. Also get to see a kiwi if you’re lucky! The geysers are pretty cool and natural.
One of the best parts of our holiday in NZ! We had an amazing tour guide and both the natural wonders and the cultural experience were beautiful. Also got to see a real life kiwi bird in the conversation section. A MUST DO if you are visiting Rotorua!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
The guided tours definitely feel rushed, too many people in one group and overall too many groups during the day - however you are allowed to roam free after the tour which gives you the option to go back to places of your interests. Considering of what you get to experience during your tour arts and crafts institute, kiwi bird, geysers and cultural performance optional, I think the entry fee is fair and worth the money. I absolutely enjoyed it
Went here for mother's day sunday brunch. It's the best place I have been to in a long time. There was no wait time. We had booked and said our names and was taken to our table straight away. The staff were great. The food was delicious. Wasn't much if any waiting time when food got low. Would definitely return again. Because it was mother's day we were also given a flax rose, a glass of wine and a bag of chocolates to top it off. What more could you ask for +++A
Amazing history of Maori people showing us the students at the school learning wood working and weaving. Our guide was amazing! The geothermal park is fascinating with geysers and bubbling mud. Also saw a kiwi in the conservation centre.
Really enjoyed our group time here. We saw the Huka show, toured the Craft School for weaving and wood working and the beautiful store with all of the handmade items. We had the special dinner, which was delicious! Would highly recommend the entire experience.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
