Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail

About

The 3rd annual Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail explores unique properties that showcase a range of inspiring and sustainable practices.

Story

The Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail winds its way around Taranaki, exploring unique properties that showcase a range of inspiring and sustainable practices. It is a great opportunity to learn from and engage with hospitable green-thumbed hosts, gain insight into their endeavors and take away tips, tricks and ideas to initiate change in your own backyard.

This year’s Trail runs from 27 October – 5 November – and will be bigger and better than ever. Keep an eye on this page or www.sustainabletaranaki.org.nz/sustainable-backyards-taranaki/ for more details as they are released.

The Sustainable Backyards Trail is more than just about viewing gardens. It’s about sharing knowledge, ideas, enthusiasm and the opportunity to connect with a community of people who are enthusiastic about living off the land, eating healthy kai, sharing resources and collectively contributing to a more resilient Taranaki, NZ and the planet.

As part of the Trail programme, we ask local experts to share their knowledge via talks or demonstrations on various interesting topics. We also hope you'll join us on the last evening of the Sustainable Backyards Trail for our annual closing event. More details to come – but we hope by then you’ll have been inspired by the backyards you’ve visited on the Trail and you’ll join us to celebrate and to further connect with local community initiatives, educational opportunities and get ideas for taking action yourselves - change starts in your backyard!
