We are closed temporarily due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
We will be reopening as soon as we can.
Stay safe everyone.
Taita Clubhouse is for our rangatahi aged 10 - 18 years of age.
We are a safe, creative non-school environment where you can explore your own ideas, develop new skills, and build confidence through the use of technology.
We are proud to be a part of the International Clubhouse Network spanning 100 Clubhouses around the world. http://www.computerclubhouse.org/
We are a programme brought to you by Hutt City Libraries.
He aha te kaupapa?
We provide the opportunity for rangatahi to be involved with creative projects based around different technological platforms that THEY are interested in.
Youth Leadership is central to our programme: as research suggests rangatahi who work on projects that are based around their interests, there is greater motivation and successful collaborative outcomes.
We believe in kotahitanga: collaboration, whakatewhatewha: exploring and tautoko: supporting our young people in their journey to greatness.
We have a team of experienced friendly and creative staff: Loisi, Arapeta, Etanah and Bennett who are supported by the fine people at Hutt City Libraries, Hutt City Council, and brilliant and generous volunteer Mentors such as Gene Iti.
Some of the projects our members are currently working on:
-Motion Media/Movie Production.
-Photography and Still Image Production.
-Fashion and Textiles Design.
-Computer Programming and Coding.
-Music Performance and Production.
We seek to introduce as wide a range of creative pursuits as possible to different youth, in turn providing them with real life, applicable skills which can carry through to future careers.
We are open 3-7pm from Monday to Friday during school term.
Holiday hours are 1-5pm, and are advised on our Facebook page which is updated weekly.
We like to go on creative trips, parental permission will always be sought.
You are responsible for the safe transportation of your son/daughter to and from Taita Clubhouse on the days they attend.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our 2019 programs.
If you are interested in volunteering or working with us to inspire a great generation of creative thinkers please get in touch with our coordinator Bennett Pomana: [email protected]
