This was good food. The salad bar had lots of options and I enjoyed the good fruit on it. Chicken fried steak was pounded out properly and the breading was a unique mix between funnel cake and corn flakes. Slightly sweet and good. The wife said chicken strips were ok.Food: 4/5
On a return trip back from Kansas we had to decide on a place to eat. I suggested once we approached Guthrie wet did pick a place. We decided on Stables Cafe' although there were plenty of other options. First we has to find a place to park whick turned out to be a short walk once we did. We walked right up to the hostess and we were seated right away. The menu had lots of options which I must go back and try! We ordered an appetizer what they called Mini Onion Rings, they were more like onion straws. They weren't there best I ever had but they were enjoyable. I chose the BBQ Sandwich - Pulled Pork & Brisket were the options. I opted for the Pulled Pork. There's tons of memorabilia to look at while we waited for our food. Very nostalgic! Our food arrived and it was looking very good. The Pulled Pork was delicious with a great smoky flavor. There was a side of coleslaw that came with the meal. I truly enjoyed the slaw! The only downside was the bun it didn't hold up as well as I thought it should. Other than that the meal was outstanding! With a place like this I sensed that the desserts would be good. So I ordered two slices of pie to go. I ordered slices of the Coconut Cream and the Lemon Meringue pie. They were outstanding!!!! I would definitely order either of these again!
In from Chicago and came to get burgers a try. I asked the waitress what is good and she talked me into getting the sampler BBQ and I was very disappointed. Brisket was very dry, the ribs were very pungent with dirty smoke, the pulled pork was very dry and not much flavor, the smoked sausage was very much like eckridge smoked sausage but had good flavor. The brisket potato skins, french fries were very good and a big portion and the salad bar was very good. I should have stuck with getting a burger probably would have been better off.
Friendly service. Food came out in a reasonable time. Hot link great. Brisket a bit dry but had fabulous taste. BBQ sauce out of this world. Beans were so tasty. Tangy coleslaw was not tangy at all. Sweet tea is delish. Onion rings were the best I’ve ever had! Place is clean. Dessert case looked out of this world but we were too full to eat any. We will return and you should visit! Nice music playing in the background.
The food was decent. I wouldn’t say it’s anything special than any other ma and pa place. I got the chopped bbq sandwich with the onion straws while my husband got the catfish. I enjoyed the sweet bbq sauce that came on it, the onion straws could’ve been cooked longer- wasn’t as crispy as I wanted. My husband said the same thing about the fish wanted it crispier. The salad bar was really nice, well stocked, and seemed to have fresh produce. The service is why it gets 4 starts. We’ve been in here a few times and every time it seems like it takes forever to get us seated- we actually left once before because it took so long to get seated. Never had an exceptional waiter, while they did keep our glasses full, they are slow when it comes to bringing the ticket or to-go boxes. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. There is a lot of rustic charm to the place. I love the wagon as a salad bar. *I will add that the parking is horrendous
I lived in Guthrie for 12 years before moving away. I still enjoy meeting my friends for lunch here to enjoy the many choices on the menu not to count the pies & cakes I had the ‘ Cheeseburger with their famous onion strips’ I crave sooo much The History alone in this place!! I absolutely love it Please don’t ever change a thing! Kid-friendliness: Kid menus
We support family businesses across Oklahoma. However, I am very dissapoinred that my 83 year old parents visited Stables Cafe and received BURNT CHARCOALED ribs with no actions of even I am sorry and taking ownership of possibly just a bad day from the cook by the owners or management. You have been talked to in the in the restaurant, sent messages by them and me, tagged several times and asked how to make this right or at least owning up to the charcoaled food. The food served is NOT acceptable!!! Dissapinted in the food and how you handle such without having to go public. Reviews do not reflect this and is why they chose to eat at Stables Cafe. It looks like customer service and food quality is going down.
We were in town for the afternoon, but came specifically to eat here. We were not disappointed. We both ordered the Broken Wheel BBQ her: ribs, me: brisket. Wow! What a deal! The bbq was incredible, and the meat was out of this world! Great atmosphere, and it was a clear favorite of the locals. I only wish we were there for the Fri-Sat buffet. We will be back next time we are in the area.
The servers were very kind and cheerful. We were from out of state and there for a family funeral. We actually ate there the night before and the night after because not only was the food great, but the atmosphere was calming and cheerful. We enjoyed the music and being in a spot where others have celebrated life.Food: 5/5
We were in Guthrie for my niece's wedding. The Tap Room / Stables Cafe caught our eye with the neon sign. All I can say is WOW! Take a trip back in time. This place is the mecca collection from the past. In this small town of around 10, 000 it employs 30. Everyone was so nice, great customer service and delicious food. The owner is fabulous and she just installed 2 pinball machines. The music is amazing. The Tap Room is in the back where they have a huge variety of drinks. You won't be disappointed.
