Established in 2007, Split Bar & Restaurant is owned and managed by brothers, Karl and Daniel Marsland.

Story

Enjoy a tasty cooked meal using fresh local produce and seafood, and succulent New Zealand lamb & beef. There is beer on tap and a range of beautiful New Zealand wines. Whether you are dining with us or simply wish to enjoy the atmosphere, a glass of wine and a delicious mezze platter after work, you are always welcome at Split.

The two separate areas within Split, cater for a restaurant dining experience with cocktail bar, or a garden bar with a fun relaxed atmosphere, and a giant screen to entertain if desired. You can find us opposite the Post Office in Rathbone St, Whangarei.

We're open Monday through Saturday - 11.00am til late.

Amazing meal, loved the food and wine here. When we arrived I initially thought the restaurant looked a bit ordinary but kinda quirky with the brickwork. Then the food arrived and I forgot all about anything else, the bread & dip starter was incredible. Steak followed and that was honestly the best steak I have had in YEARS. Thank you for an awesome meal, thoroughly enjoyed the evening and definitely will be back next trip

We have eaten around the world, namely London, Paris and New York... the service, the atmosphere and the food is right up there with the best, if not better!! We enjoyed every single mouthful of top quality food and flavor, a true culinary delight. A spectacular experience which we will never forget. Split will be the boast of our dining stories for a long time to come. We highly recommend booking your place at Split!
Service is top-notch and super-friendly to a couple of out-of-towners. Food : the snapper in the fish and chips was super tender and fresh, encased in a crunchy yet light batter. Fries or chips if you are british on their own were as good as most other places i have been to my photo doesnt do 'em justice, but it was the additional combination of the tartare sauce dip and malt vinegar that made this fish & chip dish a very very good plate of food. The clam chowder my fellow diner had was also very good, with a nicely toasted side of garlic bread that packed a good amount of garlic flavour wallop. Kudos to the chef and waiting staff at Split :
Had an amazing dinner here. There was nothing I could fault. The fish was perfectly cooked, the cheesecake the perfect amount of sweet vs tart. The staff were all lovely, helpful but not in ya face Will definitely return.

I have not enjoyed a meal like this for a long time. The staff are a credit. The meals are fulling, incredibly flavourful and the atmosphere very relaxed. I have recently been to a few places that I felt I paid a lot, and was left with a feeling that I could've cooked the meal myself at home. Not this place. It can feel like a pricey menu, but I guarantee you will feel like it was worth every dollar. No way I could replicate what they are doing Thankyou for a great evening out. We will be back
Would we come back?YES....Service was excellent, not pushy but there when you needed her. Food was tasty, beautifully plated and more than enough. A lovely way to celebrate 51 years.Food: 5/5
The menu, food itself and service is always fantastic. Great steak and fresh yummy salads. Fab kids menu too. No wonder Split restaurant has stood the test of time! 5 stars for sure.
