Southwell School

southwell school is a place of growth. a great space for learning, with a level of comfortability. HOWEVER. there is an experience i had here which after thinking about it more carefully and sharing this experience with a few people i have come to realise that it had maybe not been dealt with correctly. I, as a student here when i was, i am not anymore displayed a lot of symptoms of anxiety mainly in the forms of sharing my work. Now what i can say was, and this was by my own fault, didn't share the fact that this was what caused it however i expressed a lot of symptoms of what would soon come to be an anxiety diagnoses. and one time in class i was experiencing those symptoms i have when it came to me having to share some of my ideas with my class. the words couldn't come out of my mouth, my hands started to sweat and i clawed at them, getting fidgety, i could feel my heart so heavily in that moment as it knocked and pounded at my chest. i couldn't speak. and for a school who in some ways prides themselves on taking care not only of the physical wellbeing of their students but mental wellbeing too, you would think there would be a level of sympathy that came with teachers who do have students who struggle with this disorder and many others too. WRONG. this wasn't the only time i had felt that way with this teacher and it wasn't my last but i want to focus on the reaction to this little moment. because the only thing i got back from it was guilt. "im getting angry" he said. "you're holding the whole class up" so to add to all these feelings and emotions i was getting all at once that made my want to scratch my way out of my skin, guilt was added, pressure was added and by the end of it i felt physically sick. i and through mindful thinking, i came up with a conclusion. this isn't how you deal with situations like that. and moving forward should at least be an issue touched up with because this didn't happen once and may also happen with other students as well. through no fault of the school itself, however should be an indication.

I attended southwell from the beginning of 2022 till the end of 2023 and I have to say this has to be one of my fav schools. The grounds and always tidy and clean. The teaches actually care about your learning and do the best they can do to make your experience at southwell the best. and they have a good range of sport and academic options to choose from.

i was a student here, for 9 years. and the quality of the education here was some of the best i have ever seen. the opportunities are unlike any other schools. however, i did notice that especially as people got older the student culture was so toxic. possibly it was the syndicate i was in but students had never been worse. you were either friends or in heavy competition and you could tell there were a lot of students that didn't feel welcome. and that was kind of worked on but not nearly enough had been done regarding students behavior. like i said, the education was great and very personalized. and also the quality of camp was great it makes me sad that students often made learning so much harder for some people.it is not the schools fault, but something they might want to work on. i would like to thank the school though, not only for raising me but building certain great habits for me as a person.

I was a student in Southwell from 2014 to 2021 Southwell honestly made me a whole new person and I made a bunch of new friends. The teachers care about their students. Great Education!
