Story

About Us

Southwark Apartments was built by Nigel and Julie Lundy in 2008. They soon extended the building after purchasing neighbouring land following the February 2011 earthquakes. The CBD has undergone massive reconstruction and experienced a large amount of additional travellers so more rooms were recently added with the addition of an extra wing which opened in the beginning of 2016. The Lundy family have always been very involved day to day, and continue to provide regular support in the successful running of the apartments. The business has a friendly, family run atmosphere along with a high level of attention to detail.

Southwark Apartments is managed by Whitney Howman. With her vast experience in multiple hotels abroad she shares her valuable knowledge and experience to ensure our guests have a memorable and seamless experience.

Just stayed here for 3 days, such a nice experience. From check in to check out the staff are amazing and friendly. We even used the Guest laundry last night, such a brilliant set up. Will stay here again when we return to Christchurch.Rooms: 5/5
We had a two bedroom with living room flat no. 7. Kitchen was well equipped with good selection of tea and coffee. The rooms were large and comfortable. The best thing about the flat is the location. Many restaurants and cafes and also a large supermarket within a short walking distance. In general, you can do almost everything on foot from this hotel. What was not so nice was that right next to the flat a company offers employee training or retraining or something. During the breaks especially in the morning, many people are in the courtyard talking on the phone and smoking. They look quite openly from 2 metres into your living room and on to your breakfast table, so you have to close the curtains. But all in all, we would like to come again.
Good spot for a nights stay. Close to food at shopping in cbd. We stayed in the double bed room 2adults which was probably a bit too small for us so would recommend going for a larger bed/room. Had everything else we needed. Reception staff were friendly and quick when checking in and out.
The first night was not good, a lot of noise in the neighborhood, and it was hard to sleep. The other two nights were good. The location is within walking distance to the main city. We booked a car park but whenever we go out staff use it which has been a bit annoying having to wait each time for them to move their car.Rooms: 4/5
The rooms are a bit small but the amenities are great. The staff was friendly and location was right in city centre, only an 8 minute walk to the bus station. The soap dispensers were weird though, you have to squeeze the bottleRooms: 5/5
Be warned you will be asked to pre-pay took me off guard, but to apartments were really great. The staff were friendly. They have Netflix in the room. The bed and bathroom was good. There is a fridge, sink and microwave in the room so you can make your own food. The room itself was more homely than most hotels. Only complaint is the noise from the hallway and outside could be heard. Safety: You could hear the opening and closing of other doors which made me feel like my door was opened. It had a look but I ended up pushing my suitcase against the door to feel safer.
Stayed there for one night. Room was very spacious, tidy and clean. Good location from city centre and transport. Reception was nice and friendly.Rooms: 5/5
Rooms were new and clean, the downside - there was a huge skylight in the living room, not ideal for a sleep in. If you like firm beds, this may not suit you, beds were soft. We had another booking to return but decided to cancel instead.Rooms: 5/5
Excellent stay at Southwark Apartments! Clean room, nice bathroom, perfect location walking distance from town. Room was stocked with all you need- dishes, glasses, cutlery, toiletries, etc. Friendly staff and easy check in/out.
1. parking space is not available eventhough we try to book a space before one day. 2. There are 2 bedrooms with 1 bathroom 3. the WiFi signal is not strong 4. there are no private laundry, but the information showing on the website is misleading.
