Story

With over 30 years experience in the New Zealand Heli skiing industry, Southern Lakes Heliski is your premium heliski and heliboard provider in the Wanaka, Queenstown Lakes region of New Zealand.

With access to terrain spread across 11 different mountain ranges, ski or snowboard the best untracked powder with their highly experienced guides, certified under the NZMGA training program.

Southern Lakes Helski offers a variety of packages, ranging, from four, six and 8 runs, an option for private charters, and now multiday and luxury heli-ski trips. Come visit us at our offices in Wanaka or Queenstown.

First time heliskiing, and the experience that Southern Lakes Heliski provided has me hooked. A highly professional outfit with experienced personable people making for a fantastic day. The breathtaking experience of standing on top of a peak with your guides and fellow snow travellers is a must do. James and Phil our guides, Liam pilot and Mark our pick up man and host were all absolutely brilliant. My special shout out to Phil who really helped me out with my very rusty powder skiing - I took some tumbles but it’s like a blanket in that snow You need to be flexible in your timing - these folk are amazing but they can’t control the weather. We were lucky that we had days up our sleeves so got to follow the sunshine Can’t recommend them highly enough. If it’s on your bucket list - go for it!

AWESOME! These guys are all absolute legends, I have been lucky enough to have 2 days heli-boarding with these guys and would 100% recommend to everyone. The most recent day, Aug 6 2018, was an absolute blast. The guides are all smart and professional and we felt great in their company on the slopes. Don't think about it, just book with these guys. Shout out to Tubbs! Best guide in the business.
I’ve been boarding a few times but always fancied Heli boarding so while in Queenstown booked in. Wasn’t really sure what to expect and thought it might be over my intermediate skill level but what thought I would go for it. Booked in with the Queenstown office and the morning of the trip got a call from the office saying weather was good and the trip was on. I got picked up by a really nice guy Thomas and he drove us and a couple others through Wanaka and to the meeting point, all along the drive amazing scenery and good conversation. A detailed and simple briefing about avalanche safety and format for the day took place on the ground which was reassuring. Once at the meeting point cloud was apparently holding us up but they pushed on and an amazing chopper flight took us to the chalets high in the mountains where we had an amazing lunch of hot and cold food with loads of drinks and snacks. Once the mountain gods sorted out the clouds we were on! Myself along with 3 other guys at the same ability got helicoptered up to a peak of a mountain and our legend of a guide Lydia Bradey- check her out! lead the way... Deep untouched powder and long runs - AMAZING!!! The views are unbelievable and the snow.... 4 runs done I was wanting more but time had passed due to early clouds so back to base via chopper and boat then the drive back.... I can’t recommend this company enough, other people were asking if we flew a they were canceled by other companies but Southern Lakes delivered. Don’t think about it - DO IT!!! Thanks again to everyone -
If you want the best day out then go with these guys. Too many mountains to list that they can take you too. Request Phil Guide and Nick pilot and hold on, we did a private charter 14 runs with 4 mates, different abilities didn't phase them, they found the best of both worlds for everybody.. This is prob why i return every year
