Story

SociaLink exists to provide value adding support for non profit social sector groups, organisations and entities through information gathering, analysis and actions that facilitate networking, collaboration, learning, research and advocacy.

The need for effective collaboration between local decision makers and the social sector, as well as between social sector organisations themselves, the Social Sector Innovations Trust (SSIT) was established in September 2012. There had been no “umbrella” support organisation for not for profit social sector organisations in Tauranga Moana for at least 10 years.
The Trust received endorsement of the concept from a wide group of stakeholders within the Western Bay of Plenty social sector – the Social Sector Network.
Over the past 12 months the Trust has facilitated feedback from the Social Sector Network on a range of matters. This feedback has confirmed the Trusts purpose statement. The Trust has also helped to create the Social Sector Forum (SSF) which is to be a social sector representative group inputting to the SmartGrowth Strategy. The SSF will be a key stakeholder in the implementation of the recently revised SmartGrowth strategy. The Trust works closely with the SSF in how best to deliver the various actions presented in the SmartGrowth strategy and has regularly communicated with a growing database of stakeholder groups and facilitated several networking opportunities.
SSIT became a registered Charity in 2014 and in September 2015, SSIT rebranded to become known as SociaLink which more accurately reflects the vision, purpose and work of the Trust.
