Story

A Maori tourism business overlooking Havelock harbour and the Kaituna estuary in the Marlborough Sounds. Our Maori Heritage Art Gallery houses the world's largest "private" collection of contemporary and traditional Maori carvings of which we specialise in personal guided tours for all those that visit. All products and services incorporate the values and manaakitanga (the art of hosting) of the local mana whenua (local people of authority)of Rangitane, so that visitors can have a genuine and authentic Maori experience in a relaxed atmosphere. The collection itself is not for sale however we do have many special items available to appease those of you that want a momento of their experience here at Shark Nett.
We encourage our visitors and friends to phone ahead and book their Shark Nett experience on (03) 5742877 or (027) 3764309 or feel free to email us on [email protected] as during the off season you will find the gallery closed unless you phone us ahead of your visit. Please note that fees apply.

This museum is an absolute must see when you're cruising the Sounds. The stories and carvings given us from this Maori Tribe will remain forever in our hearts. Incredible resilience and fortitude, this group of Maori have endured horrible conditions and survived, no thanks to we invaders. This is indeed a very rich experience!
