We did two visits here. First time we enjoyed the steak sandwich, so we came back. The portion was way smaller, just few mushrooms and sweet onions, few steak pieces. It tasted good, but not worth 30$ at all. Caesar was decent. Will not come back
Stopped by Seven Penny for breakfast while in Greymouth for work. The restaurant has a lovely, quiet atmosphere and the staff were incredibly friendly. We had the Smashed Avo and the savoury bacon and banana pancakes—both were fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. A perfect spot for a calm morning meal!
For myself and my 2 teens, I spent over $100 on a well below average breakfast. My daughter who adores pancakes didn't eat 2 of the 3 and when I tried a slice I couldn't blame her.nMy son and I who ordered the same meal both struggled with the amount of liquid on our plate, the amount of hollandaise sauce was excessive and way too much balsamic and pesto for a somewhat decorative feel covered the entire plate. Gluggy cold mushroom sauce and a Potato Rosti that resembled a rectangle of fried maggots was absolutely off putting. The poached eggs were good though and the hot chocolates were yum.nUnfortunately I googled the best place for breakfast in Greymouth and this is where the reviews told us to go.
After finding this Gem at lunchtime, we were rapt to find a booking available on First Table. The timing was perfect, allowing us to enjoy the Sunset before our allocated dining time.nnThe booking process was seamless, and upon arriving, we were greeted warmly. The restaurant has a wonderful, cozy ambiance with a lovely nod to local history. It’s the perfect spot for either a relaxed dinner or a gathering with friends.nnThe food was excellent, as were the variety of cocktails. Everything was well presented, fresh, and full of flavor. The menu offers a great variety of options that perfectly elevate classic pub-dining.nnThe service was attentive without being intrusive. The staff were friendly & welcoming.nnHighly recommend stopping by if you are in Greymouth! We will definitely be back.
Delicious slow cooked lamb with seasonal vegetables, plus the Scotch Fillet was perfectly cooked. Very generous servings make it great value for money.nJeanne took great care of us - friendly and super helpful.nFood was a little slow coming out, but otherwise it was a great experience and can highly recommend!
