Such a beautiful place! Legendary theater in Wellington and after undergone some renovations, it has been open and glamourously bring back the grandeur of entertainment in windy welly. I came here to see Les Miserables and it was such a beautiful performance. The new theater is comfortable, the seats are comfy, the stage is great, lightning is lovely. The toilets are clean and we have nice bar. There are seats which are disability friendly as well. Love to be back here for more performances. This theater is strategically located and many buses are passing this place. There are many cafes, bars, and restaurant in the near by area.
Such a beautiful theatre! In the foyer, both upstairs and downstairs there is plenty of room for the pre-theatre crowds, and is well serviced with kiosks and bathrooms. It is modern and light. And then you enter the theatre and transported back to days gone by with ornate plasterwork, cherubs and old wooden theatre seating. The seats are comfortable, but not overly roomy - difficult on a wet winter's night when you have a big coat to tuck away. And I'm rather glad my legs aren't particular long, that might have proved a tad uncomfortable by the end of a long show. A decent coat checking service wouldn't have gone amiss. Other than that, it's a beautiful experience just visiting this theatre. We saw Les Misérables here from the dress circle and it was stunning.
So glad to see the St James back. Very steep steps in the Gods, though, and no handrails. Can you please install handrails before someone totters and hurts themselves?
Pretty beautiful theatre. I was lucky enough to watch the dress rehearsal of Venus Rising here and the performance was AMAZING, the acoustics seem good here and the stage and facade are very pretty. From many seats the view is slightly restricted, but that is to be expected. Drink prices were pretty darn steep.
The theatre was nicely laid out, was to find our seats. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Excellent Theatre, it has recently been upgraded & renovated. Have fond memories of many musicals Particularly Cats by Webber & Eliot.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the St James Theatre. The staff helped us out with an unforseen personal problem, which ultimately saved the day. The customer service was truly amazing. Definitely exceed our expectations and we're very grateful for they're efforts.
We went to see Les Miserables today which was an absolutely incredible show in every way! Unfortunately right above our seats was a flashing light which appeared to be part of the fire alarm system and flashed around every 10 seconds. we were grateful to be moved for the last third or so of the show but the first 90 minutes was really spoiled. what a shame!
1st time there absolutely beautiful, really look forward to going much more
A beautiful restoration job. Great to sit in a Grand old theatre delighting in a wonderful musical event.
