Wonderful experience. This place is historic and perfectly preserved. Lumsden is the perfect location to explore the entire Southern Lakes area. An easy booking and access system and amazing facilities as well as comfy rooms, not to mention the hospitality of the pub, all very close, made this the highlight of our motorcycle tour of the area.
Thank you Melanie for helping me to once again enjoy my annual pilgrimage to Lumsden. Everyone is so friendly and able to help make my brief stay enjoyable. The hotel has been presented with all the charm of a bygone age but retains the quality of service any traveller expects in today's world.
Perfect location as we planned day trips to Lake te Anau, Manapouri, and Waikaia. Loved the old fashioned grandeur. Unique setting and great improvements with the addition of an ensuite. Mel is a great host! Shows sensitivity to New Zealand history with the improvements
Very comfortable and clean room, with tea and coffee making facility and access to kitchen.nVery handy to supermarket and pub.
We stayed one night during our cycle trip Around the Mountain. The hotel was clean and quaint. The hotel is a great location, close to cafes, next to the pub which served delicious meals and not far from the cycle trail. Mel was lovely and easy to chat with. We had a lovely, relaxing stay at the Royal Mail Hotel.
