The Rotorua Aikido Club's style of Aikido is called Tatsu Gi Kai. Tatsu Gi Kai means Evolution through Form which reflects the overall goal of Aikido- to evolve as people.
Aikido is an art of self defence that does not aim to check violence with violence but attempts to manage it with technical skill that coincides with the laws of nature. In a larger sense it is not merely an art of self defence but its techniques and movements are interwoven with philosophy, psychology and dynamics.
