Rotary Club of Dunedin East meetsTuesday at 6pm at Chisholm Park Golf Club. Guests and Rotarians from anywhere in the world are invited to attend.
Dunedin East Rotary Club became a Chartered Club in 1978 with the assistance of the Dunedin and St Kilda Rotary Clubs.
The initial core members were friends from prior defunct charitable organisations such as the Round Table.
The constitution of Dunedin East primarily requires the club to fund raise to donate to worthy local causes. Our major fund raising is an annual duck race. (plastic ducks purchased by sponsors and let loose down the Water of the Leith)
The club has an obligation but is not restricted to operate in the suburbs of Dunedin East to avoid conflict with other Rotary organisations. This means the schools of Kings High, Queens High, Bayfield and Primary Schools such as Musselburgh, Tanui and Bathgate Park are considered under the auspices of Dunedin East Rotary should a request for charitable support be required.
In the past years the Club has made donation to Cure Kids, Otago Hospice, Marine & Search rescue, Fuji Earthquake relief, Autism Support Groups, St John, Woman's Refuge, Child Cancer, Alzheimer Socisty, Cook Island dental support and many more.
The club meets weekly on a Tuesday evening with initial fellowship at 6pm an dmeetings commence at 6:30pm Guest speakers are encouraged to make sure the meeting concludes by 8pm. Current venue is Forbury Park Race Way. Membership is open to all persons over the age of 20. Current membership is 36 and new members welcome.
