We had a wine tasting today and it was very nice. You need to book ahead, and they hold tastings for small groups every 30 min.nnWe tasted several wines; they were all nice but we enjoyed the riesling the best. Their philosophy is very interesting and one I was happy to support by buying a bottle the tastings are free.nnIf you're staying in Wanaka consider walking to the winery... it's a lovely 45 min on the lake path, and a 10 min walk uphill the trail switchbacks so it's not as steep as it looks! to the winery. The views of the lake and vines are fantastic. The winery grounds are beautiful as well.
Small winery just out of town. As other reviewers have said, the view from the tasting room is superb.n6 wines offered in the sampling session, expertly described, and you are given plenty of time to try them and ask questions . If you want to buy, prices per bottle are fair, and they give info on international distributors if you want to buy it when back at home.nGreat fun,and laid back tour.
Good wine but phenomenal views! Make sure you book as appointments are required for tastings. No food offered which was disappointing.
The views from the winery are truly incredible. The free wine tasting was also very good but helped significantly because it was free.nnWe felt quite rushed during the session as it's only half an hour. The wine portion sizes were very small, and the wine price list was pushed on us quite a bit at the end with the expectation that you would buy a bottle.nnNow, all of the issues above seem small, but this is only because the tasting was free. We'd have much preferred to pay some money $10 to $30 for a longer session, additional tasting note information, more wine and less expectations of purchase.nnThe whole 'free wine tasting to guilt you into purchase' wasn't great. I don't expect this being the intention from the owners, but that was how it felt.nnI think the access should be improved for walking/cycling visitors, and some food options would be great. Also the opportunity to have people enjoy the beautiful scenery with a glass of wine afterwards. Someone in our group asked this and then get told no 'because of the liquor licence', which seemed odd.nnSome small improvements would go a long way.
Stunning winery with equally great wines. Make sure to book a wine tasting as they're by appointment only. We managed to sneak in with another group but remember to book ahead.
