Had high hopes, arrive at 830am.nOrdered mince and cheese pie and a scallops and prawnnMince filling and texture was excellent 5/5, unfortunately warm and uncomfortable to eat.nScallop and prawn was horrible and potato texture was sandy, very fishy and stale unedible, could not have more than a mouth fill , felt as if it had been in pie warmer for days.nPastry on top was excellent and nice base.nA big selection of pies..nVery sad start of the morning
Gold award Chicken and Vegetable pie left and Best selling Caramelised Pork pie right.nnMust try the Caramelised Pork pie. The pork is belly pork pieces. You first taste the savoury favour then the sweet taste of the caramelised red onions kick in. Rounded off by a heavy taste of pepper. This is now my favourite. nnChicken and Vegetable pie is alright too.
Went there on one October weekend. This best pie award winning shop offered a variety of pies and pastries, plus other baked products on display. Coffee and drinks are also available. Service was fast. Ordered steak and cheese and reuben pies for dine in. Orders are usually for take out as there are few seats.
Delicious vegan pies and rolls, strawberry donut is divine, custard pie is great, too. Lovely coffee. Just a shame they didn't have more seats!
I’ve been a long-time customer, but unfortunately this place has gone downhill. Prices have gone up significantly while the quality of the pies has noticeably declined, to the point where they’re no longer worth it.nnThe biggest issue for me is the service from the owner’s wife. I’ve had multiple unpleasant experiences with her, and a friend of mine has had similar ones. On one occasion, I quickly stepped in to grab a pie with my small dog standing between my feet. I was immediately yelled at with “NO DOGS ALLOWED.” Fair enough, I understand the rule. I explained I would paywave and be out in seconds. She insisted again that I take my dog outside. I picked my dog up and said I’d literally pay and leave immediately, as I couldn’t leave my dog unattended outside. She rolled her eyes and gave me a very rude look.nnAnother time, I was standing near the entrance while my dog sniffed near the door and was again yelled at. Even when I’m not with my dog, she often looks annoyed, doesn’t greet customers, doesn’t smile, and comes across as unfriendly and rude.nnAs for the food, despite all the awards the bakery prides itself on, the pies are honestly pretty mid now. If you do go, stick to the basic flavours like mince and cheese. The mushroom pie is okay. Avoid the more “creative” flavours like green curry, butter chicken or the vegetarian pies. They’re bland and clearly use frozen vegetables. I once found a massive piece of broccoli in a pie, which was really unpleasant.nnIt’s a shame, because the owner himself is actually very friendly. But between the declining quality and consistently rude service from his wife, I won’t be returning.
