Wasted potential here. This opshop just has a really dirty feel to it. A lot of the shoes by the window are dirty and grubby. The staff are really unpleasant, unwelcoming, and rude. I was also once accused of stealing from here. There are plenty of other nice opshops in Christchurch so best to avoid going here.
Rude female staff member with short red hair was deeply unpleasant towards the young woman donating in front of me then proceeded to treat me like she was doing me a favour by accepting my donation. I've never been made to feel bad about donating to charity before. Avoid, donate elsewhere.
My husband and I come to New Zealand from the Czech Republic in February to travel for 5 weeks. Unfortunately, we could not bring a tent and sleeping bags with us and our friends advised us to buy it at the second hand shop. Fortunately we came to the Manchester Red Cross Shop where we found what we were looking for. When we were checking out, the seller started conversation and asked where we were from and what our plans were, we said that we were going to travel around the South Island by car and live in a tent and we were very excited to start our journey ASAP. It turned out that the lady who was serving us was from Ukraine and she told us to make sure that we have enough warm clothes, blankets and mats to live in the tent and especially in the highlands, we bought everything she recommended and subsequently every cold night we thanked this lovely lady for her wise advice and for looking after us.nIt was a great idea to go to this shop, the things we bought were of very good quality and prices were affordable, which was even more pleasant for our budget. Also the lady gave us some ideas and suggestions where we should go to see a real New Zealand what we did and never regretted!nWhen we were going home back to the Czech Republic we donated all our stuff to the Red Cross on the North Island.nWe wanted to thank the New Zealand Red Cross for your hospitality, your care and warmth and would like to give a special thank you to your store assistant, the wonderful Ukrainian lady who helped us a lot. Thank you very much for our unforgettable, amazing experience we had in your beautiful Country and where the New Zealand Red Cross was part of!
On my walk to the hostel I saw this spot and checked it out.nnLoads of style and pieces to choose from. The prices were exactly what you'd want from a second handstore, I got a really cute red top and a long flowy skirt. Fun music being played, the staff were very friendly.nnGoing back today :
Personally I excited every time I get there never quite know what I will end up with sometimes nothing..I live in the city so pass the shop often if there’s a park I go in..never found any staff member Rude always genuinely helpful ..Great buys clean friendly and interesting…
