We stayed here on the last night of the season, enjoying it so muchtat we want to come back already! The Interior is done in light tones, very pleasant for the eye, great artwork in the lounge, and the fireplace is lit for dinner time. We enjoyed our morning coffee in the seats by the windows, looking out at the nice garden. The staff members are amazing, you guys doing a great job! Rooms: Clean and cosy rooms, with air conditioners for you to set the temperature to your liking. The most comfortable bed! Walkability: Literally 2 minutes away from the most beautiful Pohara beach. Food & drinks: I will add some pictures of our dinner. We have decided that it was one of the best dinners we had as a family together. All dietary restrictions were accounted for, nice vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free options to choose from. As for the meat lovers, you have to choose between duck, venison, pork, beef, fish and this is just the mains! After trying something here, you would want to come back and try the rest of the menu for sure! Noteworthy details: The hot tub is working from 8 am till 10 pm, so you can rock up whenever you feel like and have a swim in the pool afterwards. As we stayed here at the end of April, it was a bit too cold for the sea, nonetheless the hot tub was available after dinner!
What an amazing refurbish that has been done! We have stayed before this happened as well. Place looks so fresh and modern now, comfy bed I didn’t want to get out of, super clean premises. delicious food! + lovely staff. Only tiny critic I could give was the spa outside was not hot and we couldn’t sit in it for too long.
We had a wonderful stay at Ratanui. The team is awesome and the service is exceptional. The rooms include everything that is needed for a restful stay. And the food and bar service is amazing. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts, dinners and cocktails. Ratanui is the perfect place to relax and use as a base camp to explore Golden Bay. Future visitors should spend multiple days here to thoroughly enjoy the hospitality, charm, and accommodations.

Boutique style accommodation, room felt brand new and straight out of a magazine, wonderful attentive staff, beautiful fine dining style food and very yummy cocktails! The absolute highlight of this place are the people. Helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable and both experienced, but also clearly giving a couple of young local staff a go, which we loved. My husband and I have stayed and in our 20's also worked at 5*+ lodges and hotels around the world and Ratanui's staff had that feel about them: Relaxed attention to detail with focus on the individual. Loved every minute of my birthday weekend. Thank you!
We have stayed for three nights at Ratanui Lodge. Thanks to Zahid and Christine as well as to Chiara for making our stay such a great experience. Everybody was so welcoming the rooms were absolutely clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was great and so was the breakfast. We can only recommend Ratanui Lodge for staying and visiting Abel Tasman National Park. Rooms: Great rooms very clean and comfortable. Nearby activities: Abel Tasman National Park and Golden Bay Kayaks Food & drinks: The restaurant serves great food and staff is always very friendly and welcoming
I felt welcomed as of the first minute we arrived. We were always adressed by our first names, which made me feel very appreciated as a guest. Not only the Ratanui Lodge is one of a kind, but also the staff members made our stay unforgetable. Everyone was always so kind, helpful and patient. Ratanui Lodge offers excellent food and beverages. Everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious, well seasoned and of high quality. Our room was beautifully decorated and the beds and chairs were very comfortable. There were always plenty of towels and even a make-up towel, which I haven't found anywhere else before. We even got a complimentary bottle of red wine and a plate of chocolates and strawberries, which were highly appreciated. Amazing place to stay and spend a lovely holiday.
My husband and I had two glorious nights at this property and we can’t say enough great things about it. Christine and the staff were so friendly, professional, kind and helpful. They helped us book a tour quickly, and made great suggestions about what to see and do in the area. The room was beautifully appointed with gorgeous linens, a super comfortable bed and boutique soaps, creams, and shampoos. The room was very spacious, clean and modern. They have thought of everything for amenities, including cosy robes and chocolate by your bedside at night. This property was just completely renovated in 2021/22. The breakfast was so delicious! We also had dinner at the restaurant, and the food was yummy! My husband had the Duck Confit and said it was the best duck he’s ever had and he knows his duck and I had the fish of the day which was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented…. and be sure to try the sticky date pudding. If we ever are back in the area, we will be sure to stay here again, and will recommend this property to our friends.
What a wonderful moment in a realy great journey. We had no idea what to expect when we crossed the road from the campsite to the Pohara Restaurant at Ratanui Lodge. We were all the more surprised to find an extraordinary culinary experience. The first glance at the menu revealed: small but delicious. And the dishes lived up to this promise, both visually and in terms of flavour. My wife and I both enjoyed marinated prawns with capsicum puree, roasted seaweed, toast, pineapple, cucumber and radish. The quality of the entrée continued with the main dishes: Confit of duck leg with kumara puree, orange segments, fondant potato, seasonal veges, red wine jus me and my wife snapper as catch of the day grilled fish, roasted fennel, citrus salsa, veloute and salmon cavier. On to a sweet final: Sticky Date pudding cinnamon crumble, vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce and Orange Chocolate Cake chocolate ice cream, orange segments, salted chocolate soil orange infused chocolate sauce. I could describe and praise every single dish in detail, but one thing is clear about all of them: these chefs know their business, the menus are prepared and seasoned to perfection, the ingredients are perfectly balanced in terms of flavour, and the sauce at the dug leg, for example, is something you'd like to eat by spoon. Conclusion: The best we've eaten in New Zealand so far. And high praise for the tea team led by General Manager Zahid Ullah. We wish them many more highly satisfied guests.
We did not stay at the lodge, but had dinner at their restaurant. The meal was fantastic! I ordered the prawns appetizer, Venison dinner - which was perfect. And my wife ordered the soup and catch of the day, both which were excellent. If you have the chance, enjoy a dinner here.
