Ranui Touched is part of a nationwide strategy between NZ Police and Touch NZ in our bid to assist communities to engage positively with their whanau and friends using sport as the vehicle for engagement.
MISSION
To create healthy and fun participation opportunities that develop positive social ongoing effects for communities and families through (but not limited to) Touch Rugby.
To create sustainable participation opportunities for communities and families cultivating positive holistic rewards.
To develop legacies, communications and support networks for communities and families to positively grow.
Key objectives
* To create a successful community ‘hub’ or entity to provide physical and social opportunities to the Ranui Community
* To assist in reducing sport, work or social related injuries

Linking whanau to positive engaging, interactive, participation and educational opportunities
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SAFETY
Develop people in transferable skills that relate to participation and a positive experience using sport.
COMMUNITY SAFETY
Providing positive and safe opportunities to take focus away from violence within a social non-contact sport.
Providing positive (free or minimal cost) opportunities in communities where at risk individuals and families are present.
ACCIDENT PREVENTION
Educating participants on basic first aid and injury prevention techniques – pre and post participation.
SUMMARY
The overall plan meets priorities of parents/family/whanau using youth development programmes, community development and empowerment, violence prevention, rehabilitation – both physical and social, mentoring and pastoral care through a targeted approach.
