Me and my partner reluctantly went here after there was no room at St George or Rolleston for us. We drove there at 10pm after the birth. When we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and looked after as soon as we stepped foot in the building. It was an amazing relief to feel the warmth and comfort from the staff who were merely strangers to us at the time.nnAs the father to a newborn daughter, I was confused, in shock, and filled with a bucket load of questions - mostly stupid ones. The midwives here never once made me feel dumb, no matter the question. They supported me through everything and showed me how to feed, change, and clean my baby girl. The midwives Fiona, Theresa, and Kerry did an outstanding job supporting my partner with breastfeeding and supporting her emotionally. They were so gracious and professional, they really made us feel at home.nnBefore we knew it, we'd spent three nights in the birthing unit and it was very tough to say goodbye to the team. They were beautiful and wonderful people who will always hold a special place in our hearts.nnAs someone who was hesitant about spending even a night here, I couldn't recommend this place enough after how we were treated.nnKind regards,nFather to little Evie.
Got transferred here after having my baby at chch womans and absolutely loved it. The breastfeeding support is amazing and really they include the dad and make him involved as possible which we really appreciated. Plus there is heaps of parking and a nice place for visitors to come meet bubs.
waited nearly 30 minutes for ambo to come from woman’s with an incubator for my son… apparently a birthing unit doesn’t keep a lifesaving machine at hand.
