What a pathetic service. I called for a noise complaint and the guy could not hear my voice first and made me almost screen over the phone to speak to him so he made me do what I was complaining for. I told them to contact me when here as I live in a boarding house he said will speak to you when turning up. The wait time is up to 2 hours. I said almost awake the next neighbor actually did not make a noise as I think when I was almost screaming over the phone they may have heard my voice that I am laying a complaint. The noise complaint office never turned up. I called in the morning to follow up what happened the last over the phone did the same thing saying cant hear your voice when I said I am hear to complaint she could hear just fine. She spoke to the security while I was waiting over the phone and said he will be in touch but I never received a call from the security at night. Unreliable people and pathetic service. If this is what council is doing what one would expect from the people not complying without a fear.
Really horrible to deal with, we requested an exemption on a parking fine due to extenuating circumstances during a trip to Queenstown. They declined, writing the letter on 10th of the month, but posting it to us in Australia at the end of the month, so it was received the following month. In the meantime the council notified the hire car company of the fine, so we were charged not only the fine but a penalty by the hire car company. We first found out that our request for an exemption was rejected via the hire car company, and only got the council letter a week later. This council is either incompetent with their administration or have a joy in victimising tourists, basically very disrespectful. I would avoid going to Queenstown New Zealand, it is overpriced and over rated, plus ridiculously cold all year round.
My family and I from Australia visited your lovely town for 2 weeks during late July 2019. This is the second time I have been here and was still impressed by the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities provided by council. Even to the extent of hosing out the garbage bins ' outstanding'. I have no hesitation in recommending Queenstown and regions to others. Well done !
I just want to say a thing about the camping in Queenstown. When we were there, we were traveling self contained but we found it very difficult to know where it is possible to spend the night or not. The online map is helpful but some people told us they were fined $200 dollars even if it was "legal". And also this 2 nights thing. Are we allowed to spend 2 following nights or 2 nights at all during a specific period or what do you mean ? Moreover we met some very unpleasant people one morning who told scream us we weren't allowed to stay at the place we were.. But we were at a place who is green on the council's map so we didn't understand.. sometimes we felt not welcome in Queenstown. Maybe it would be better to introduce clear rules even if it's to prohibited freedom camping at all. I prefer to pay several nights in a hotel than one night for 200$.
Worst council I have ever seen all other council in whole nz atleast listens to the people what happened or why they had issue regarding fines they give you a chance to speak and resolve the issue but these council service is outrageous really outrageous They r just greedy monkeys snatching money out of people
Shame the Council planner doesn't understand that human structures in a natural environment blend better if they are correct proportionally, instead of nit-picking over a metre or so in a huge landscape. Better if he had required the owners to submit plans for approval showing proposed exterior colours and landscaping, with the express requirement of environmental sensitivity.
I have never seen so many car with no current WOFs and no current registrations they are parked on almost every road. Is there no I enforcement for it in Queenstown. It's scary how many mechanically unsafe cars are driving around in this town.
Gouging tourists for parking fines must be the council's new revenue strategy as their parking officers are totally unwaivering in their pursuit for erroneous fines which should not have been issued in the first place! Third and last time I'll be visiting QT.
Very helpful! Thank you cndywbcd much!
