Story

Since the late 1980s Potteryworld has been owned and run by the Leighs family. On any given day you are likely too come across a family member amongst the pots at Claridges Road - from the Patriarch Tom Leighs Senior to sons Tom Junior and Mark , to grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.

The old fashioned family values of personal service and honesty, coupled with one of the best ranges of pots, urns and water features in the South Island of New Zealand - make Potterworld a Christchurch tradition.

Potteryworld was founded by Tom Leighs and his wife Penny in December 1987 after Tom retired as Managing Director of Saatchi and Saatchi.

The firm expanded quickly selling local and imported pottery and ceramics. After several years, sons Mark and then Tom joined resulting in even more rapid expansion and involvement with their wives, and children.

Exotic plants including yukkas and other palms were introduced along with a range of outdoor furniture, fountains and garden decoration.

Potteryworld always have the latest designs, colours and textures in pottery ranging from huge urns to small pots, plus tables, chairs and water features.
