Most popular place in Martinborough. There is no menu they do platters for the amount of people in your group and you can also choose from a selection of desserts and cheese. Great rose. Great service. You can also have a wine tasting before, during or after your platter. Booking is essential.
An absolutely stunning place with plenty of vegan food and vegan wine options. The vegan platter was really good. Because the venue was a big hall it was very loud inside and the only other table option was in reception by the front door. Otherwise, great service and a nice hour or so out.
Almost missed an opportunity to try this place out, someone canceled their table so we got a call from a lovely staff a day before and we drove up to Martinborough, the weather was amazing and everyone was so friendly. The tasting platter for 2 was only $48, the wine tasting is included for 2 people. They were all so very good and we cannot wait to go back here. Ended up buying a bottle of red
Be careful !!! When you go to POPPIES winery and would like to book a table you must be dressed up! If not, you probably will just be invited for wine tasting only at their tasting counter and not allowed at table. I went many times at this winery in past and never had any problem . But my last visit on 10 Jan 2022 was very uncomfortable. The winery was empty and the receptionist look at me and said "no table available " everything is book out. So, my experience was terrible, and the staff at reception was very unfriendly and accommodating. My advice: go to the next winery @moy hall: Good price, great food and excellent service
Always a popular spot for lunch and especially on a warm day when you can sit outside. They only serve antipasto type platters for the number of people and cater for all dietary requirements, but the platters are beautifully presented and ample food for lunch. We also got the artisan bread and the rose wine was divine. We sat inside the dining area at the back which was really busy. I noticed this room also used as a wedding venue had been renovated and the colours lightened up which looked beautful. They've also got these gorgeous velvet booth and long bench seats now which I hadn't seen there before. The service was really good and quick. You have to book certain seating times. Great vibe, friendly and great place!
Elegant vineyard and restaurant with of country style design and decorations. It’s a nice place, not far from Wellington, to book for lunch and/or enjoy a wine tasting. The surroundings are stunning.
Nice place and environment. The service is ok. Unfortunately the wine is average. You need to book a table for lunch even when they have tables available. It's very weird. Anyway I had a good time with friends.
We love taking our guests to Poppies for lunch. The platter has something for everyone with plenty of scrumptious treats. It’s perfect with a glass of their rose’. Do book as Poppies is popular!
Charming place, great wine esp the gewurtztraminer and delicious platter, and friendly, attentive service made our visit very enjoyable. As requested, they prepared a table with accomodation for wheelchair for one of us. Though we didn't bring a pet, their website indicates this place is also pet friendly. Thank you!
I’ve heard many good things about Poppies over the years so finally booked a table for myself. It was definitely worth it. The location is a short drive out of Martinborough and the setting is really tranquil. We did the wine tasting before our lunch and that helped us decide what wine to order with our meal. We ordered the platter which has a selection of breads, meats, relishes, cheese and more. Everything is perfectly paired and absolutely delicious. A definite must if you are visiting the area.
