Pironga offers a fantastic variety of walking and hiking trails, catering to various preferences. The mountain bike park stands out as a thrilling highlight, perfect for both kids and families. The only thing I don't like is its distance from Hamilton!
I wasn't prepared or well-equipped for this challenging hiking journey. After the trip, my arms and legs are sore from navigating diverse terrains, trudging through mud up to my calves, and climbing up and down over entangled tree roots and rocks. Yet, there's a serene beauty in breathing in the forest air and feeling the gentle, fluffy touch of moss. The forest feels like something out of a fairy tale, with rocks and tree trunks covered in moss. It truly quiets my heart to immerse myself in the cold and untamed beauty of the wilderness.
Very lush and dense forest, lots of tree roots and mud after a rain along the tracks so mind your step. A few caves to explore. Home to NZ's tallest recorded native tree.
Beautiful steepy walk. Ensure to empty your bladder before heading to this walk as there was no public toilet in the area. Wear comfortable shoes, the walk was slippery specialy when going down back to the car park.
One of most steepest track and enjoyable from top. Not very hard to climb at the end it pays of everything with natural surroundings of mountain. If you like hicking or climbing then go for it
Such a cool range of walks here and so far one of the most challenging walks I've done in a day - to Pahautea hut and back. Super adventurous trail!
We drove all the way there from Taupo and couldn't get in. All of the gates had a padlock on them. Get your act together DOC. What a waste of time and petrol. Grrrr
Meilleur balade. Même Marcellin a put la faire malgré son surpoid léger c’était très cool mais un peu sportif. Le point de vue au sommet a fait pleurer Marcellin.
Amazing. Beautiful area to enjoy a walk or mountain bike. Loved it
Well recommended. Good exercise and good paths.
