Very easy going, nice hostel.nIts clean, super nice Michelle running the place, with a five minutes walk to Hokitita downtown.nIt has all amenities I needed, and reasonably priced.nNothing else I could ask fornnIf you are allergic to noise:nOnce in a while, there is a train passing very slowly, so not really loud but you can hear it. I did not bother, if you do maybe it is not the best optionnMe personally I am much more annoyed by the constant 'singing' of the cicadas :
Great value for money. The twin room was more spacious than expected, the staff were friendly, and the location was excellent with an easy walk into town. The restaurant was very reasonably priced, with amazing food and a nice discount for hotel guests.nAs the building is older, the walls are rather thin, so some noise does carry, particularly from doors and conversations early in the morning. That said, the hotel has already taken steps to improve this, and a little extra consideration from guests would make a big difference. Overall, the hotel offers many great benefits, and I would still recommend staying here. I’d happily return in the future.
Really short walk into town/the beach which was great. The staff were lovely as were the locals, very welcoming.nIt looks quite unassuming, but I really enjoyed my stay here. Very reasonably priced the food and drinks offerings too, not just the accommodation and if you're staying and dining they give you a discount on the food which is great.nThe bar is really nice and seems to be the place to be for everyone in the neighbourhood. Good selection of drinks.nThe food actually was a revelation, first night I ate there I wasn't massively hungry so just had garlic bread and shrimp cocktail, both of which were great. The second night I had the rib eye with roasted vegetables also came with mash, peas and a sauce of your choice. WOW. Cooked to perfection, everything was delicious and I was actually quite sad I hadn't had steak the night before too!
Didn’t stay here but the food was like home cooked great, affordable and the staff went above and beyond for us. As tourists we were made to feel very welcome. We were served by the woman with glasses who was lovely and remembered us when we came back
My second visit here, everything is straight forward and immaculate for the price you pay. I would stay here again if I was to return to Hokitika again. Great friendly host.
