This was my first ferry ride ever, and I can honestly say it was unforgettable! The staff were incredibly helpful. Everything was very well organized for boarding and disembarking. This wonderful trip will stay with me forever!
I was very surprised, thought it was just a car ferry with some walk on passengers. But it is so much better than that. Has several cafes on board, bars, movie theatre, very comfortable and many lounge areas for passengers. Just a smaller version of a cruise ship. And the trip across Cook Straight was very calm.
The woman who checked me was excellent and very professional in our interaction. The only problem I found was the 2 lane entry which was too narrow for the large campervan that I was driving.nI was next to another big van and we struck mirrors not once but twice. Quite irritating.nnThe voyage itself was perfect. The sea was very calm. I had the Kiwi breakfast and it was good too.nnThank you.
Our Picton to Wellington ferry was delayed by around five hours due to vessel conditions, but this was communicated well in advance, which helped with planning.nnThe real highlight of the journey was the view from the viewing deck. The scenery is absolutely stunning. Cruising through the Marlborough Sounds with calm waters and lush green hills, then opening out into the vast Cook Strait, is an unforgettable experience. Standing on the deck, feeling the sea breeze and taking in the endless ocean views makes the trip feel more like a scenic cruise than just a ferry crossing.nnEven though it was windy, the views were breathtaking and easily the best part of the journey. The facilities were clean and the service was well managed, with the viewing deck being a must visit during the crossing
Great food and service, very organized in getting transport and passengers safely on / off the ferry. Enjoyable trip with recliners, plenty of seating on tiered levels, plus movie watching. Great taking pictures and sight seeing through the wonderful little Islands.
