A Sweet Summer Tradition in Aucklandnalways a delightful summer experience.nWhile they offer a “pick your own” option for strawberries, I personally visit just for the ice cream.nIt’s a seasonal treat that never disappoints—the ice cream is consistently delicious, making it a must-try during the warmer months.nThe staff are friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall charm of the place.nIf you’re looking for a simple yet satisfying summer activity, stopping by the Strawberry Farm for a refreshing ice cream is a great choice.
You need to have correct opening and closing times listed. And need to answer your phone when it rings. We came all the way from Australia, to enjoy the strawberry ice-cream as it was so nice, when we last visited 5 yearsnToday driving back from the Bay of Islands, we made a special detour on our way back to Auckland for our flight home. Your opening hours say 6pm on Sunday and we arrived at 5.20pm. To be told the shop had already closed. I also tried calling on the way down from the Bay of Islands. What is the point of having opening hours listed or a phone is it doesn't get answered. So disappointed and really crap service. What a way to spoil the end of our holiday.
On 26/12/2023, my husband and I went to PYO at Phil Greig Strawberry Gardens.nnI picked around 1.5kg strawberries but honestly this was not a good experience, especially after visiting most of the strawberry farms in Auckland.nMy husband enjoyed his real fruit ice cream but mine was floppy and started melting just after being made for me. A bit disappointing though!
Probably the worse ice cream I had lately. I took a small strawberry in a cup. The size was good but it was completely flavourless and with bits of ice so big that you have to chew it. But it was full of people so I guess it's a matter of taste
I have to say Phil Greig strawberry garden has the sweetest strawberries in westnAuckland. $8.5 per person includes 1kg strawberries.nnHowever, I went back in 2024. Everything changed. No more PYO, just ordinary strawberry like the one sells in the supermarket. Regular ice cream is the same size as the mini one. Very disappointed.
