I wish I could give 6 stars because Fiona cannot be described as anything less than miraculous. She was so lovely during the wine tasting, taking us through all the beautiful flavours at Kumeu. She even provided us a jump to our car which was incredibly kind and made us all fall in love with her that bit more! 11/10 would come back.
One of the best family producers in Kumeu. Amazing history, outstanding wines and insightful and informative staff. Their 2022 Estate Barrique fermented Chardonnay is definitely one of the best Chardonnays in the Auckland region. NZWINEPRO - Auckland Wine Tours is a tour company that can take you to this winery and they can also show you through the barrel room and production facility. Highly recommend them both.
The experience was not that great just the three stars for the good sauvignon blanc varieties but the service was bad, there was an elderly lady who gave us through the tasting., she looked doing it for the sake, we had more knowledge on her wines than she does and asking questions she handed the winemaker notes to us nHighly recommend someone more passionate as a cellar host for a great experience
Completely unplanned visit to this great wine producer winery which inspired me to give Chardonnays another go.nGreat wine tasting hosted by a very friendly and knowledgeable lady.nWould highly recommend a visit here for sure and be prepared to stock up on a few wines too.
We drove straight from the Auckland airport to Kumeu River Winery. It takes around 40 minutes.nThis is a family owned winery, very welcoming and personal. The lady who conducted the tasting was really friendly, informative, and professional.nUnfortunately, the bubbles and premium Chardonnay were not available for tasting, however we did taste two pinot noirs, 1 pinot gris, 1 rosé, and 2 Chardonnays. Cost for a tasting is $10 pp.
