Good ambience/decor. Pleasant staff. Short meal waiting time. Large portions and good taste. Makes for a good time out and experience trying out Mexican dishes.
Really disappointed as I love my Mexicans and was really looking forward to it but this one is not good at all. The enchiladas were bland, the tortillas tasted stale and so did my work mates and they were not hot at all even though we asked for it, not one chilli to be found. The staff looked dejected and bored as it was dead, the service was terrible. They had no authentic Mexican beer on draught just bottles and when they asked if we wanted desserts I thought hmm I may have some churros.. no they don't do that either so some none mexican cheesecakes or velvet cake... Terrible. My advice is to avoid and buy an Old El Paso from Tesco... That will be much better
If your heart is set on tapas, enchiladas, tacos etc, there's no reason not to drop by Pepitos, a superior Mexican restaurant that's about a 5-minute walk from Derby Midland station. Rustic, low-key décor, a menu of familiar dishes, civil prices, and friendly, competent staff make this one of the best places for eating-out in Derby. The head waiter was very courteous and diplomatic, and he easily resolved a "situation" that I had with a family who didn't like me making photos of the place. I had an almost too sumptuous dinner there in October, and will happily return when back in the city. Recommended!
A lovely place with some great food on offer at reasonable prices £10 - £20 per head. The service though was terrible. Ordering drinks and only half would be bought over, leaving one or two of us sat waiting for over 20 minutes until we questioned where they were. One drink was completely different from what was ordered, exchanged it but had to wait 15 minutes for it. We ordered a dessert and they took it to several other tables where the customers touched the plates before coming to ours too. I could understand a little if they were super busy but they were only just over half capacity. It's a real shame as it has the potential to be a great place to eat.
Great food and friendly staff. Will be back
I believe it to be the only authentic Mexican restaurant in Derby and the quality of the food is sublime. The portions are abundant and the atmosphere perfect. Prices are moderate and staff very welcoming and friendly. Beautiful and romantic.
Pepitos has always been one of our favourite restaurants, always great food at a good price.. always get that holiday vibe when visiting. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Food still good, nice music, service was a bit slow considering there was only about 3 other tables in, the person behind the bar and female server seemed too busy flirting with each other which was pretty inappropriateFood: 4/5
Booked a table for my partner's birthday and had the most excellent dining experience. The food was excellent and the service matches and food quality. Excellent attention to detail and caring attentive service. Would absolutely recommend especially to those experiencing the loss of MexiCo from the Intu centre. I was, this is way better! Parking is easy behind the building free after 8pm and you will leave full and satisfied!
The food and service were good, nicely decorated. Post covid reopening made the vibe quite quiet but it's definitely the kind of place worth coming back. Wished we could have tried on the sombreros.
