Good chips. Great fish. Absolutely terrible burgers. I honestly don't think I've ever eaten anything worse than the burgers that we got from this place. The kids burger made my 5 year old cry. My wife took one bite of hers and then said "let's go to McDonald's". However the kids who didn't order burgers though that what they got was very good.
Good but the prices, oh ma lawd. Run. Not worth it sorry but you just finish eating thinking about spending the same for much much better.
As good as any fish and chip shop in Auckland. We typically have fish, chips, potato and pineapple fritters, fish cakes and spring rolls, and all of it is top quality every time. The fish in particular is what matters most to me and it is always cooked just right - firm, with a crisp batter. Generous servings and friendly staff.
Out of all the fish and chip shops this is definitely a gourmet selection. Bit pricey but so worth every cent we drive out 3 times a year from pukekohe just to have this best option for me is the battered oysters can still taste the ocean juicy and fat. Chips perfect, fish wasn't to bad hot dog was great and so was the burgers!! Great service overall great shop!
The toasted sandwiches are the best thing at this shop. Apart from being white bread, they are good portions and taste pretty good. The gourmet burgers aren't bad either, if you can afford one. The guy on the hot plate takes care about his cooking and he even fries the cheese, but the classic steak and egg burger has no meat paddy, the lettuce isn't fresh and the egg is always way overcooked. The fish is fresh, but the batter is a bit disappointing. The oysters tasted a bit off too. The chips are ok, but you really don't get much for your money. I mean, how much does it cost them for a little bit of potatoe? It would have been n nice to walk away feeling full, but overall, not a bad place to go. The staff have always been really friendly. With a few improvements, this place could be awesome. Let's hope they read these reviews
Been eating here for over 20 years, after the last two occasions I will never go back. New owners have not got it sorted. Burnt fish of the day. Burnt fritters how hard can it be. Soggy chips that tasted of old oil and fish. Sad as was some of the best takeaways for miles. Gave it three chances, in the last 2 months. Never again. Please learn to cook correctly, change your oil. Don't burn your food, and maybe you may survive. I don't see it really.
This place goes above and beyond with their toasted sandwiches. 4 stars because they always seem to overcook the fried food. Delish otherwise
The most amazing burgers and chips. I ordered the crumbed chicken burger and an angus burger. Great size, good value and the chicken wasn't processed! Perfect place to stop in and grab food to take to the domain. I will definately be back to try more from the menu.
This place is below average. Cheap burger buns. Frozen horrible tasting meat patties. Chips not good. Like all places that offer everything, they tend to nothing well. Certainly the case here. It is by no means cheap either so I was very disappointed. If you want burger and fries then BurgerFuel is far far better. I did have a battered fish last time that was about what you would expect for the price.
Our whole bubble had takeaways Sunday night. Seven of us we had a selection of gourmet burgers chips hotdogs onion rings. We were really pleased with every burger extra nice. The chips were done perfectly onion rings hotdogs really good as well. We were not disappointed. Good value for money. We will be back next week.
