Peel forest doc camp is open from south canterbury weekend ( end september ) to may 1st . The camp is a great family camp with 31 powered sites, 50 non powered sites and 4 cabins . Bookings on stat weekends is advised .

Good place to stay, very clean facility, flush toilet, hot showers kitchen with hot water and a microwave a fridge a fireplace. Book and pay before you comephone service but really slow if you want to pay online there or bring cash, envelopes and sign in form are in kitchen. Lots of walking tracks.
Didn't plan to stop here but ended up spending a night between Mt Cook/Aoraki and Christchurch. So glad we did! The facilities at this campsite are clean and the local walks are amazing. Such beautiful forest, large ancient trees and lots of birdlife. Each pitch is very spacious. A hidden gem!
This is one awesome spot for a Department of Conservation Park, nice place to relax back and a number of great walks ‍ If you're into Geocaching, DoC have created a number of caches along the walks for you to find

Love this place. Podocarp forest with some of the hugest trees and a very cool camping ground with awesome facilities Doc should be commended for the amazing work they do to look after our environment and allow us access. Thankyou Department of conservation
Had a great time here. Nice place. Has every thing you need. Went exploring and ran into bushes that fought back.
Great place to relax with family. Clean premices. If you are hiring the cabin, be aware that there are no pillows and blankets.
Top spot for a short walk to see massive old totara trees or to do the lung-bursting walk up to Lt Mt Peel.
Magical place with excellent amenities. Lots of walks close by and the river for swimming.
Pricey but well managed DOC camp. Showers, kitchen and cabins. Many different tracks in the Peel forest originate here.
