It was my first time there. I thought it appeared larger looking at photos , however it is quite narrow. Would be a good place to stroll or bike along the estuary, to sit and relax , or use the skate park.
Three very small freedom camping spots available. It is a nice enough setting amongst the bush and Kauri trees. There are rubbish bins and a public toilet. However if you like to sleep past 6:30am I would avoid it. We were woken up at 6:30am on a Thursday by a convoy of council workers who then parked up and had very loud discussions and laughs until 7:30am when they began mowing the grass right next to our motorhome for an hour, stones from the mower hitting our motorhome and all. If you have a dog you’re hoping to walk here unfortunately the bush track is a bit of a slippery and precarious boardwalk and not ideal at all.
Very nice place if you love nature, certainly worth visit if you like natural beauty. Wonderful place to visit . well maintained place.
Beautiful short walk with descriptions of NZ trees, done by local volunteers. Well maintained. I liked the little plant shop as well
Great freedom camping spot in the car park for 2 nights.... safe but can get busy during the day. The bush walk is nice enough and the big Kauri tree is visible at the car park. The museum is worth a look and reasonably priced.
