We have 3 gorgeous bach's available for holiday rental in the laid-back, family-friendly little village of Point Wells, between Matakana & Omaha Beach

Story

Point Wells is a little village of about 200 houses 5 minutes from Matakana and 5 minutes to Omaha Beach, 50 minutes North of Auckland. It's perched on a sheltered harbour peninsula of deep black peat soil; it feels just like living on Rarotonga, with lush vegetation along the roadside, a mix of older bach’s and newer homes, large section sizes and very sheltered subtropical climate.

Tractors putt along the road towing their boats to the boat ramp, past the bowling club and croquet club where the only noises are the clack of mallet on ball or bowl on bowl. Aside from birdsong from the scores of Tuis and other native birds, the most noise comes from the local children playing on the tennis courts or playgrounds.

During the day, the harbour is serene, apart from the odd set netter hoping for a few flounder. After school, in the holidays and in the weekends, there are a tribe of kids of all ages at the Point, diving off the jetties, swinging from the rope under the pohutakawa and kayaking up the river. The more adventurous don snorkels and goggles and drift through schools of mullet and the occasional larger fish in the crystal clear water.

Regular events are held at the local hall, local weddings are often held here and the connoisseurs club caters to those who love food, wine and good company, which is quite a lot of the locals! At Christmas the whole village decorates their letterboxes and gets together for a lolly scramble and prize giving on Christmas Eve. The little library in the hall is well supported as this the local general store, an institution here since the late 40's and still serving some of the best coffee and takeaways around!

The local church is located just around the corner from the store, but is no longer a church as we have converted it to a gorgeous bach called The Chapel, with the adjacent church hall converted into another bach that we call The Abbey. On the other side of the store, we have our other bach, called Sweet 16 as it is located at 16 Point Wells Rd.
