Story

We are open Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays, and school holidays, 1.00pm to 4.00pm.
$3.00 for a return trip.
$2.00 for a half trip.
We welcome excursions.
Eft-Pos available at both stations.
Travel on our famous 2.2 km track through the gardens and bush of the Victoria Esplanade. Keep a sharp eye out and you may see some rabbits.
All our staff are volunteers and we welcome inquiries from any prospective new members.
We have won the Trustpower Manawatu community award, in the sport and leisure section, for the last 2 years.

Beautiful scenic gardens right in Palmerston North. The gardens reflect the change of seasons in astounding ways. Each season brings out new hues that are delightful to watch. Perfect place for a day out with kids or for exercising with a number of walks suitable for everyone. Accessibility is available for wheelchairs and pram’s throughout the park.
Great fun for the whole family with a ride through the scenic park. The volunteers were friendly and happy to share information about the railway and its history and operation.
Excellent train service. A must-see destination in Palmerston North. Friendly staff.
I love this train, it's one of the highlights of visiting Palmerston North. So why only 2 stars? Well, the following scenario has occurred Multiple times: Check website - Website indicates they will be running it's a weekend or it's a public holiday Check the Facebook page - they've specified that they are running on that day AND that it's not been canceled due to weather. Send a message via FB Messenger to ask if they are running - get told that they will unless the weather starts to rain, they will confirm at midday. Re-Check the FB page and Messenger after 12 - no cancelation notice. Proceed to do the hour place drive to Palmerston North to ride the train seriously, it's worth an hour drive, even with today's petrol prices Kids getting excited about riding the train etc. Get there and.... Not running, nothing on the website, FB page, Messenger or the ticket office. I don't mind if for whatever reason the train isn't running, just a courtesy update on your FB page or stick to what is advertised.
Great place for many things. Rose gardens. The park. And the duck pond. The railway miniature train is fun an covers most of the park this is also fun when events are on such as the Halloween night train and spring lights and Christmas time. Cafe is good for ice cream and coffee and it's good for all ages. A very good Time go is at spring time
Beautiful park. The little trains are so fantastic. The staff and train drivers are wonderful and good for a chat about the trains and railway. The train ride is a must do as this takes you around the expansive park. It stops halfway around at the play ground where you can disembark to let the little & big kidsyou play or relax. Then get back on the train when your ready for the ride back to the station through the beautiful planted park/woodland. This is the best train ride ever, for the young and old at heart.
It's so cool!! Only runs 1-4pm during school holidays and long weekends so check their website to see if they're open before going... But it's so worth it! Currently $3 a ride the value for money is outstanding so take the whole family!
Great place to take your children, they love the train ride and all. Have to update your time table on the internet, as it says your open every day!
An enormous asset to our community and great fun for children of all ages. An absolute must do for locals and visitors again of all ages.
