This older motel was conveniently located for us between Waitomo and Hobbiton, the room was heavily perfumed, and older, but the staff was very nice and you could tell that they tried to have everything we needed. They gave us fans so we could air it out and the perfume smell persisted through the night…Walkable to a grocery store.
The first thing that became obvious was that the gentleman manning the desk Geoff, was a very friendly outgoing and helpful guy. As we took care of the paperwork associated with getting the key for the room, he asked how long we were in town for and if we had seen anything. Telling him that we are only in for the one day that we had gone to see the glow worm cave earlier that day he immediately suggested going to locations that were within a 45-minute drive with the community. Not only did he recommend we go to see the Marakoppa Falls and the Natural Bridge, he pulled up pictures and directions on Google Maps so I could see them. He also recommended a number of local restaurants to grab a meal at. He emphasized that both of the places were free and a quick easy walk into from the parking lot. My 14 year old son went. We easily found both and they were stunning. The room was as advertised with a queen size bed, twin bed, a well appointed kitchenette with chocolate complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and shower. It was impeccably clean and everything worked. The bed was very comfortable.
The room is nice but a little small and damp. The layout is a bit weird but other than that its really nice if your looking for something cheap I highly recommend

Amazing location and great personable service.. so close to so many food options but hands down fat kiwi was the very best restaurant ever and I think we will miss their food so much. You can walk there for breakfast and lunch. The owner is very kind and helpful. If you don't mind the beds on the soft side like our kids you will enjoy it. I prefer a harder bed so I found it a bit uncomfortable but still managed to get a great sleep. Very quiet location yet so close to everything and the playground across the road was tops for the kids after a day at the caves. It provides all the facilities to cook your own meals if you don't feel like eating out. You can walk to restaurants and bars. Very close drive to waitomo. Walk distance to supermarket
