Paddles and Saddles Great Barrier Island

Hired some kayaks for a two hour paddle around the bays. Enjoyed it immensely, and saw a lot of bird life on the water - shags, terns, brown teal and the highlight a penguin. Pulled the kayaks up on the beach at Gooseberry Flat and enjoyed the warm, shallow, crystal clear waters. Equipment was in great condition, personal flotation devices provided life jackets and the friendly staff were happy to provide instruction and advice. Will definitely do it again when next back on Barrier. Hint: If nobody answers the bell at the front door, just wander around the back, where everyone staying at the accommodation is probably soaking up the sun and the view out over the bay.
